‘General Hospital’: Laura Wright Opens Up About Her ‘Best First Date’ With Wes Ramsey
General Hospital is full of storylines about romance. However, even when the cameras are not rolling, there is love in the air behind the scenes.
Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey, who play Carly Corinthos and Peter August, are two General Hospital co-stars who are currently in a relationship. Wright recently talked about the “best first date” she had with Ramsey.
When did Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey begin dating?
Wright and Ramsey first met in the early 2000s when they were both working on the soap opera Guiding Light. At the time, Wright was married to her ex-husband, so her relationship with Ramsey did not develop into something romantic. Both Wright and Ramsey later left Guiding Light in the mid-2000s.
Wright and Ramsey did not run into each other again until 2017 at an Emmy Party. This time, Wright was going through a divorce from her ex-husband, so the dynamic between her and Ramsey was different. Ramsey told Michael Fairman TV that he decided to ask Wright out.
“There was an assertiveness on my part that was for sure 15 years in the making,” Ramsey said. “I did not expect to run into her. I also did not expect for her to tell me that she was recently single. In that split second, it was one of those, ‘stop the presses!’ moments. Like, you need to give me your number, I’m taking you to dinner.”

After meeting each other again in 2017, Wright and Ramsey went on their first date. Wright later recalled that it was the “best first date ever.”
“He came and picked me up, took me to the theater and then we went to a bar in this hotel lobby and went back to his apartment and sat on his patio, hanging out and talking until the sun came up,” Wright told Soap Opera Digest. “I don’t think he kissed me until 4 o’clock in the morning and I was like, ‘What took you so long [laughs]?’”
In April 2020, Ramsey also shared an Instagram post talking about their first date. He wrote, “Three years ago today I had the best first date of my life. There was laughter and butterflies, deep emotional conversations & crazy intense attraction. Falling madly in love was measured more by hrs than days at that time. I knew my life was changing.”
How do Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey feel about working together?
Sometimes it can be challenging for couples to work together. However, it seems Wright and Ramsey have been able to find the positives of their situation.
Speaking to Michael Fairman TV, Wright shared that, as actors, they have to “emotionally and psychologically” go into another world, which can be exhausting and tough to deal with. She explained, “Thank God, we know the workload. I know what he’s getting ready to go through.”
Ramsey also revealed that, as a couple, it’s important for them to understand what the other person needs at any moment.
“I have always had so much respect for Laura’s work. On Guiding Light, I’ve always been in awe of what she’s capable of doing,” he said. “So, the level of respect is obviously there. But also, the understanding whatever it is that you need from a personal assistant in one moment… or a life partner in another moment … or a best friend in moment … or whatever it is in order to get through the day-to-day and the week-to-week, so we can do what we love to do. We know we’re very lucky to have the opportunity to do what we love.”
