‘General Hospital’ Recap: Rubble, Rubble, Toil & Trouble
Depending on your beliefs, you either viewed this week’s General Hospital as the best week ever or as the worst week ever. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, though, two characters are gone from the canvas for good. Jax has left, and Jason Morgan is dead. The good news, though, is that Drew is still alive and well. So, make of that what you will.
[Spoiler alert: Spoilers for this past week’s episodes of General Hospital are ahead.]
On ‘General Hospital,’ Jason Morgan was crushed under rubble
Of all the ways to send Jason Morgan off, crushing him under a pile of rubble was quite the way to do it. Nevertheless, that’s exactly what happened on Monday’s episode of General Hospital, according to SoapHub. But the fact that Anna Devane delivered the news about Jason’s death (and, let’s bear in mind, he’s only presumed dead) does leave the possibility of his return open. With the Trevor St. John rumors floating around, it will be interesting to see if he does, indeed, pop up as the missing hitman.
Jax got an ignoble send-off
General Hospital said good-bye to Ingo Rademacher’s Jax in a bit of an ignoble way. According to Entertainment Weekly, Jax was basically sent off to Australia on Monday’s episode. Carly then asked him if he’d be back in town for the holidays. And Jax — breaking the fourth wall, in a way — replied by saying, “I’m kind of on the outs with everyone in Port Charles right now.”
The outlet confirms what everyone has known all along: Ingo Rademacher, who played Jax, was fired due to his failure to comply with ABC’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate. And while neither Rademacher nor ABC commented about his character’s departure, his method of departure leaves the door open for his character’s return. Whether Rademacher himself returns to play Jax, however, remains to be seen, if this is indeed the case.
“Rachemacher has been a fixture on General Hospital since 1996, where he’s played Jax for the past 25 seasons,” reported the outlet. “News of the actor’s departure first surfaced when GH cast member Nancy Lee Grahn tweeted about her co-star leaving the show while slamming what she described as transphobic comments made by Rachemacher.”
But Drew’s still alive, so there’s that
The good news on General Hospital is that Peter couldn’t kill Drew. And, certainly, he tried his best to do so. But ultimately, according to SoapHub, Anna Devane ended up bringing Peter into custody to face the music. And yes, folks, Drew is indeed alive…for now, anyway.
“During questioning, Peter all but put his hands together and cackled manically about all the dead enemies he had in his basement tunnels – remaining unaware that everybody save for Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) was alive and in fine shape all things considering,” reports the outlet.
Isn’t that something, though? All that time, and all those possibilities, of all those characters kicking the proverbial bucket — and the only one to do so is none other than Jason. One thing’s for sure: this is just the beginning of Peter’s secrets. We’ll just have to tune in to upcoming episodes of General Hospital to know for sure.
