‘General Hospital’: Sofia Mattsson’s Favorite Pandemic Dish Is Related to a Popular Disney Film
The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced many people to stay at home instead of wandering outside. For those with a lot of time on their hands, the pandemic has also provided a great opportunity for learning new things.
General Hospital star Sofia Mattsson, who plays Sasha Gilmore, has been learning new dishes these past few months. She also once shared a dish that has become one of her favorites, and fans might be surprised to learn that it is related to a popular Disney movie.
Sofia Mattsson joined the cast of ‘General Hospital’ in 2018
Mattsson grew up in Sweden and moved to the U.S. when she was 19 to pursue acting. Her older sister, Helena, was already involved in Hollywood, having appeared on shows like Desperate Housewives, Mistresses, and American Horror Story.
When Mattsson first booked the role of Sasha in 2018, she initially thought she would only be on the show for a little bit.
“At first, I was recurring. I really thought I was going to be there for, like, three episodes,” she told Soap Opera Digest. “I think my character, Sasha, only thought she was going to be in town for a moment, too!”
Fortunately for Mattsson, she continued to be invited back to General Hospital. Her role as Sasha, a young woman who was paid to pose as Nina Reeves’ long-lost daughter, kept her around Port Charles for some time. Afterwards, she was given a more permanent job in the city as the face of makeup brand Deception. Her personal life became entangled with other characters’ as well.
Sofia Mattsson also has a handbag business with her sister
Aside from acting on General Hospital, Mattsson also runs a handbag business with her sister Helena. Called Ava Carrington, the company sells vegan handbag to target the need for cruelty-free fashion.
“It started when we realised that pretty much all high-quality design handbags are made of animal leather,” Mattsson said in an interview with Scan Magazine. “Like us, many people want a sustainable quality option that is kind to animals as well as the environment, but so many alternatives are either lacking in quality or style, or both. Generally speaking, vegan fashion is not exactly known for being stylish.”
As a result, the two actors spent time learning about fashion design to craft a collection of beautiful handbags made from vegan leather.
Sofia Mattsson has been cooking new dishes during the pandemic
Mattsson has been doing a lot during the pandemic, including cooking new dishes. In an interview with Hollywood Hi, she talked about this experience and even shared her favorite Disney-related dish.
“I’ve learned to relax more,” Matsson said. “I’ve also realized how nice it is to cook at home. I used to eat out a lot but quarantine lead to a lot of cooking which was really fun and I learned some new dishes. My favorite is Ratatouille!”
Additionally, Mattsson has also been trying to stay active by walking or running outside. She also caught up on old classic movies and played board games.
