‘General Hospital’: Wes Ramsey Had a Crush on Laura Wright Long Before They Started Dating
Wes Ramsey and Laura Wright are one of the hottest couples on the set of General Hospital right now. Although the two of them do not have many scenes together, Ramsey and Wright’s romance is hard to miss for fans of the show. They often share pictures with each other on social media and has talked about their love journey in interviews.
Ramsey has also shared an interesting tidbit about his relationship: He had a crush on Wright long before they started dating.
Wes Ramsey and Laura Wright first met on another soap opera
While it can be easy to assume Ramsey and Wright first met on General Hospital, the truth is that they go back way.
In the early 2000s, Ramsey and Wright both appeared on the soap opera Guiding Light, which is where they first met. Ramsey played Sam Spencer and Wright played Cassie Layne Winslow. The dynamic between them was a bit different at that time, however, since Wright was married to her ex-husband at the time.
Both Ramsey and Wright left Guiding Light in the mid-2000s and did not run into each other again until 2017 at an Emmy party. As she told Soaps In Depth, “I was joking around with Donnell Turner (Curtis) about the line at the bar and Wesley turned around. I was like, ‘Oh my God! What’s up?’”
Ramsey had been “enamored” with Wright for a long time
It’s not clear how much Wright had thought about Ramsey after they went their separate ways in the mid-2000s. However, on Ramsey’s part, he admitted that he was well aware of Wright’s work on General Hospital and was smitten by her.
He revealed to Soaps In Depth that in 2016, he saw Wright on TV and “stopped in my tracks.”
““My sister-in-law’s mother was watching GH and I was stopped in my tracks — there was Laura!” Ramsey said. “The moment her scene ended, I picked up the remote, paused it and said, ‘I remember that woman.’”
He continued, “For 20 years, I’ve thought she’s one of the greatest actors and one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Was I manifesting Laura into my life? I’ve been enamored with that woman my whole life and next thing you know, we were at a Daytime Emmy party.”
How do Ramsey and Wright make their relationship work?
Every relationship has its own challenges, and for Ramsey and Wright, one such difficulty involves their busy schedules as actors on a very popular soap opera.
“I think I can see it being more difficult for daytime actors [to be in relationships], because the work we do is so intense,” Wright told Michael Fairman TV. “I know the weeks he’s getting ready to go into, and I’m getting ready to go into. Where we go emotionally and psychologically to tell these stories, on the level that we tell them, as quick as we tell them, you kind of have to become really in a headspace.”
Since Ramsey and Wright work in the same industry, it seems the couple has a lot of commonalities that help them understand each other better. Moreover, face time does not look to be a problem as Ramsey and Wright can see each other on set every day.
