George Clooney is one of the most famous actors on the planet. He’s been in the business for more than three decades and early on in his acting career, purchased a sprawling Los Angeles estate. The Oceans Eleven star recently sold that property to a high-profile couple.

Here’s more on Clooney’s longtime pad and who calls the residence home now.

George Clooney bought the mansion decades ago from a legendary musician

In 1995, Clooney shelled out $2.2 million to buy the mansion in Los Angeles’ Studio City neighborhood from legendary rocker Stevie Nicks.

During a segment of Person to Person, the Oscar winner talked about buying the Fleetwood Mac vocalist’s abode recalling: “I was in the second season of ER living in a little house and I thought, ‘Well maybe it’s time to get a little bit larger house off the street so I wouldn’t fall prey to every photographer.’ To me, it was a sign of making it, to be able to buy your own home.”

The house, which is 7,354 square feet and boasts six bedrooms, was Clooney’s bachelor pad for many years before he met his wife, Amal. The movie star hosted several parties on the estate as guests were entertained on the three-acre plot with a tennis court, a swimming pool, multiple bars, a basketball court, and dense trees to hide from prying eyes and paparazzi.

The two-story property also features a home theater equipped with a popcorn machine and an open-air dining room with a temperature-controlled wine wall.

After the Wolfs actor married Amal, he stopped having those parties, and the mansion was transformed into their family home.

The Clooneys have an impressive real estate portfolio with houses all over the globe. Some of their other homes around the world include a vacation house they designed with friends Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford in Los Cabos, a $13 million home in England, a $14.75 million New York City condo, an $8.3 million wine estate called Domaine du Canadel which is located in France, and of course Villa Oleandra in Italy’s Lake Como where they spend a great deal of time.

The celebrity couple who purchased the LA property from Clooney

On Sept. 23, Clooney’s mansion was sold to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey and former Miss Universe and reality TV star Olivia Culpo for $14.5 million.

The couple met on a blind date in 2019 and tied the knot on June 1, 2024, at a historic resort venue in Watch Hill, Rhode Island.

Culpo previously owned a loft in Hollywood but purchased a $3.5 million, 5,366-square-foot home in Encino, California, a few years back before McCaffrey was traded to the Niners.

She told Architectural Digest: “I lived in Hollywood right in the thick of it, in the middle of all the noise, and I realized I really wanted something that felt more calming, like a sanctuary almost. A respite from the city.”

The model and McCaffrey will have that at their new home too as Amal used to call the property a “private oasis” for relaxation and family life.
