Gigi Hadid on the Real Reason She’s Kept Her Pregnancy Private
It seems like forever ago that the Internet was buzzing with the news that Gigi Hadid was expecting her first baby with her boyfriend, Zayn Malik. The rumor seemed to leak before the young model was ready to announce it, but it was later confirmed by her mother, Yolanda Hadid, and the 25-year-old herself. Since the announcement, however, Hadid hasn’t spoken much about her pregnancy or posted any pictures on her social media page. But, we finally know why that is.
Though Hadid hasn’t been sharing every detail of her pregnancy, she is thrilled to be welcoming a baby in the coming months. In an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 25-year-old revealed that she and Malik were extremely excited about their bundle of joy and thankful for the support of their family, friends, and fans. She also revealed that it was nice to be spending time with family amidst the craziness of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“We’re very excited, happy, and grateful for everyone’s well-wishes. During this time, it’s a nice silver lining to be able to be home and together, and really experience it day by day,’ Hadid stated. She also revealed that the baby was already making its presence known through unique food cravings. Fans of Malik and Hadid were thrilled that she confirmed her pregnancy, but have noted that she’s been pretty tight-lipped about her pregnancy ever since.
On July 15, 2020, however, Hadid hopped on to her Instagram live to give fans more insight into her pregnancy and why she has chosen to keep it mostly private. In the live, she gave fans a first glance look at her baby bump and also walked them through her thought process on why she’s chosen to go on this journey in a more private way. According to the supermodel, she finds it more prudent to speak on bigger issues given the current state of the world.

“I think a lot of people are confused why I’m not sharing more, but I’m pregnant through a pandemic. Obviously, my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world. I’ve felt that it’s not really something I need to share apart from with my family and friends,” Hadid explained, citing that the experience is one that is personal to her.
The model continued on to add that her enormous platform is better used to shine a light on some of the issues currently plaguing the U.S.”Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus. That was in the beginning of quarantine and still happening. And then we moved obviously into the reemergence of the [Black Lives Matter] movement, and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that,” the 25-year-old added.
Hadid has plans to share more of her pregnancy at a later date
But just because Hadid isn’t sharing every aspect of her pregnancy with fans and the media doesn’t mean that she’s not documenting it well. The model admitted that she’s making sure to keep records of her journey and is even committed to sharing parts of her journey with her fans in the future. For now, though, her focus is on taking care of herself and her baby.
“I’ve been trying to document it well. And I will be sharing stuff like that in the future. I just am not rushed to do it. I feel like right now I just want to experience it, and I write in my journal a lot. I just don’t want to worry about waking up everyday during my pregnancy and worry about having to look cute or post something,” Hadid continued. We’re sure Hadid’s fans can understand why she’s choosing to experience her pregnancy in a more private way. We wish her continued health and happiness throughout her journey.
