Gigi Hadid Tells Taylor Swift How She Manages Stress
Model Gigi Hadid lives a fabulous life, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t experience stress from time to time. Here’s what she told singer Taylor Swift and a few other celebrity friends about how she manages stress and stays grounded.
Gigi Hadid struggles with anxiety
During a panel for Reebok’s #PerfectNever campaign, Hadid opened up about her anxiety. She revealed she sometimes deals with anxiety associated with the pressures of being in the public eye. The pressure became so overwhelming that it led her to take a social media break back in 2016.
“I get anxiety before doing interviews right after something big happens,” said Hadid during the panel discussion. “[I] feel almost suffocated by the world and the world’s opinions. Sometimes I have to literally sit myself down and be like, You are a good person.”
Hadid also mentioned in an interview with PeopleStyle that people tend to act like they deserve to know more about her because she’s a public figure. However, she also adds that non-celebrities go through this invasion of privacy too because we’re in a digital age where it’s easier to get private information about anyone.
“It’s not only for people in the spotlight, it’s for everyone,” said Hadid. “At the end of the day, I’m choosing what I’m showing you. A lot of the world feels so much entitlement in other people’s lives, which is so crazy and so new for human beings. We never had that,” she continued.
Gigi Hadid told Taylor Swift her secret to managing stress
During an interview in Harper’s Bazaar, Taylor Swift complimented Hadid on her ability to stay focused during stressful times. She asked the model if she has always been able to do that. “I’m seriously impressed that whenever you are in an immediate or stressful situation you fly into action,” said Swift. “Is that something that’s always been natural for you?”
Hadid told Swift she’s at her best when she fully expresses how she’s feeling. This helps her push through the stress and accomplish what she needs to do.
“I’ve realized over time that I feel the most free when I express myself, whether through action, writing, or talking it out,” replied Hadid in her Harper’s Bazaar interview. “Being honest always leads to something good, even if it takes a hard or awkward moment or conversation to get there. You can never go wrong with telling someone how you feel and speaking your truth. And you always learn something from it.”
Gigi Hadid also received a question from tennis champion Serena Williams
Williams asked Hadid how she manages to stay grounded, considering she’s a celebrity. “You are exactly the same person I knew when you were 16,” asked Williams in Harper’s Bazaar. “How have you remained so humble, loving, and down-to-earth?” Hadid said she never thought of herself as a different person after she became famous. Remaining the same is what helped her not become out of touch:
I think that I’ve always seen myself the same. Although I’ve had dreams come true and gotten to experience so much, my inner dialogue has always been one of self-reflection and keeping integrity as my main focus in everything I do. I also give a lot of credit to the fact that I’m a Taurus, whether that has anything to do with it or not…
But I’ve always felt a connection to when people say that a Taurus is at peace with the timing of the earth. I trust that everything we go through, good or bad, is for the better. I try to see the good in people first and remember that everyone is continuously trying to grow and do their best.
