Did Gina Get Her First Kiss During the ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Season 2 Finale?
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series featured plenty of complicated relationships. There was Miss Jenn and Ricky’s dad and, briefly, EJ and Nini. For season 2, however, EJ and Gina started having feelings for each other.

Fans first met Gina during ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 1
Gina, portrayed by Sofia Wylie, is a talented singer, dancer, and actor. For East High School’s production of Beauty and the Beast, she acted as the co-choreographer. However, this character explained that she’s never actually kissed anyone.
Before living with Ashlyn and attending East High School, Gina was constantly moving with a mother. As a result, forming friendships was pretty challenging, let alone relationships. During the “Spring Break” episode of this series, Gina was stuck in an airport, flirting with a boy.
She explained to this new character that she never had her first kiss. She wanted it to be with someone special. As she was leaving, her close friend EJ appeared at the airport, granola bar in hand, to remind Gina how much he cared. A few episodes later, this duo was planning for an actual risotto date.
Gina and EJ almost kissed during the ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ season 2 finale
This second season was all about second chances and the first love between EJ and Gina. However, EJ got some wrong information from Gina’s brother regarding their relationship. During the “Second Chances” episode, Gina told EJ she didn’t see him as a brother.
Then, she asked if EJ would be her first kiss.
Unfortunately, the season 2 finale ended before fans saw these characters kissing each other. That means they’ll have to wait until the “hot summer” featured in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 3. (This upcoming season has not yet been announced by Disney+.)
Gina was in somewhat of a love triangle during the beginning of season 2
Gina and Ricky had a pretty close relationship during season 1. That relationship extended into season 2, and as a result, Gina was reading their friendship completely wrong, especially with the mislabeled Valentine’s Day gift. The two never took their relationship further, especially because Ricky was dating Nini for some episodes of this Disney+ original series.
“There is such a complicated relationship between Ricky and Gina, Ricky and Nini, Nini and EJ, and every cast member or character in the show,” Wylie said during an interview with Hollywood Life. “…I think this is what makes the show so great is that there are so many people who relate and love so many different characters and ship so many different dynamics.”
Episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2 are available for streaming exclusively on Disney+.
