‘Girl Meets Farm’: Molly Yeh’s Pancakes and Sausage on a Stick Makes Breakfast for Dinner Fun
Girl Meets Farm star Molly Yeh created a recipe that is a mash-up of two favorite breakfast foods into one. This kid and adult-friendly meal hit all the right notes for making breakfast for dinner fun. It combines sweet and savory food items creatively. Who doesn’t love eating food on a stick?
Molly Yeh is a huge fan of breakfast for dinner
Even before welcoming daughter Bernie into the world two years ago, Yeh was admittedly a huge fan of breakfast for dinner. There is something inherently comforting about enjoying breakfast food at the end of the day. It is that feeling that Yeh translates into her recipes, which feature traditional breakfast foods with a twist.
In an episode of Girl Meets Farm titled “Oh Fry Goodness,” Yeh devised this hand-held meal alongside other deep-fried delicacies, including Fried Cheesy Pickles, Chicken Schnitzel, and Potato Latkes with Caramelized Onion Sour Cream.
Pancakes and Sausage on a Stick combines two delectable tastes
Outside of the ingredients for the batter and the sausage needed to make this dish, the only element required to craft this meal is long lollipop sticks.
You will need flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, baking soda, buttermilk, and an egg to make the batter.
As for the protein part of the meal, pre-cooked breakfast sausages are essential. Yeh explains that if the meat is frozen, heat them just enough to soften. This way, you can insert the stick properly.
Mix the wet ingredients in one bowl and the dry in another. Combine the two, stirring to make a batter.
Slide the sausage onto the stick until it almost comes to the top of the meat.
Dip into the batter to coat evenly. Then add to hot oil and fry until golden brown.
The perfect dinner for Molly Yeh can be as simple as a scrambled egg
In an interview for the Martha Stewart website, Yeh admitted that a perfect dinner could consist of a simple scrambled egg.
“A perfectly cooked scrambled egg with good butter and flaky salt and a few chives or scallions with buttery crusty toast takes just a few staples and no advanced planning and is heavenly,” Yeh says.
She also relies on other family favorites to combine her two meals into one complete nutritional powerhouse. These include Yeh’s recipes for Corned Beef Hash Waffles, Cheesy Kale Breakfast Casserole, and Apple and Peanut Butter Kale Smoothie.
