‘God Friended Me’ Sneak Peek: Is Corey the Mastermind or a Victim of the God Account?
The God Squad will have a lot on their plate in God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 19, “The Fugitive.” The previous episode introduced a new character who propelled the God Account mystery forward. On top of that, the characters will have to tackle a new friend request, all while juggling their own personal matters. With that in mind, here is a sneak peek of God Friended Me, “The Fugitive,” which will give fans a hint of where the story could head.
Previously on ‘God Friended Me’
Cara has been leading the charge in hunting down Corey Smith, a government operative and suspected God Account mastermind. In the last few episodes, the group continued their persistent pursuit of Corey for two reasons.
He works for DARPA, a federal agency that develops new technology. He is also the son of Alfonse Jeffries, an executive with ties to the insurance company where all of the God Account’s friend suggestions seem to be sourced.
The circumstantial evidence pointing to Corey as the God Account creator appears to be airtight. Season 2 Episode 18, “Almost Famous,” ended as Miles and Cara came face-to-face with Corey in a cliffhanger. Season 2 Episode 19, “The Fugitive,” will pick up the story with the trio locked in a tense confrontation.
Sneak peek: Cara and Miles meet Corey
God Friended Me Season 2 Episode 19, “The Fugitive,” could be a game-changer. The previous episode ended with a reveal that left viewers on the edges of their seats. The producers of the show have undoubtedly preserved the element of surprise about Corey’s connection to the God Account. But, based on the sneak peek in the video above, fans may get some answers.
In the video clip, Corey explains that he runs research and development for DARPA. He also admits that he created an algorithm for predictive analytics to thwart future military threats. But the tech whiz says it was stolen seven years ago, and he now believes that whoever took the computer code is the mind behind the God Account.
Corey suggests teaming up with Miles’ group to hunt down the thief. Cara seems intrigued, but Miles is unusually uninterested, defensive, and dismissive of Corey. Is Miles preoccupied with personal matters, or has he just finally had enough of the God Account?

The sneak peek gives fans minimal information about where things may go with the plot. Furthermore, in the episode promo for “The Fugitive,” there is no mention of the ongoing God Friended Me storylines, like Corey’s God Account connection, Ali’s cancer treatment, or the Miles-Cara-Adam love triangle madness. Fans can only hope that this doesn’t mean those stories will be on the back burner for a week.
What the episode promo does reveal is that Miles’ next friend request is a man on the run with an infant in his arms and a bounty hunter on his trail. The gang — presumably with good reason — races to help the fugitive stay out of jail. With any luck Miles and crew can resolve the fella’s problem and still have plenty of time to get back to solving the God Account mystery that we all want to crack. God Friended Me airs on Sundays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
