Is ‘The Good Doctor’ on Tonight, Jan. 17?
Sadly, The Good Doctor Season 5 is not on tonight, Jan. 17, 2022, but it’s not all bad news. In place of the medical drama, ABC airs NFL Football. The Arizona Cardinals face off against the St. Louis Rams in the last Wild Card game of the weekend. Last week, ABC skipped The Good Doctor to air Judge Harvey. The new television court show premiered on Jan. 4, but ABC aired an encore presentation.
“Always good to come to court when you can’t lose,” Harvey says from his bench.
The new series airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC. Unlike Judge Judy Sheindlin, Harvey has no legal judgeship or license to practice. However, the miniseries boasts a different law show, full of comedy.
When does ‘The Good Doctor’ return in 2022?
ABC did not announce an official The Good Doctor 2022 return date, besides “Spring 2022,” but it could return on April 4, 2022. The Good Doctor returned in January 2021 after the winter break, but that’s not the case this season. ABC’s other scripted dramas, A Million Little Things, Station 19, Grey’s Anatomy, and Big Sky return Feb. 23 and 24th, so hopeful fans would love to see The Good Doctor in late February. However, another scripted drama takes the place of The Good Doctor instead. Promised Land premieres on Jan. 24 in the 10 p.m. EST slot.
If The Promised Land, featuring John Ortiz, Cecilia Suárez, Augusto Aguilera, and Christina Ochoa, runs for 10 episodes, The Good Doctor could return the week after it ends — April 4, 2022. However, ABC did not confirm this date yet.
What to expect when ‘The Good Doctor’ Season 5 Episode 8 returns
When The Good Doctor returns in 2022, Shaun tells Lea again that he cannot marry her.

In another clip, viewers watch Salen Morrison (Rachel Bay Jones) reprimand Shaun for “killing a baby.” Although fans know it was the expired medication and Salen’s creation of Ethicure that led to the baby’s death. Luckily, doctors in the hospital are ready to challenge Salen’s authority.
“I’m taking her down,” Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) says.
Dr. Glassman cautions Dr. Lim not to go up against Salen, but fans are ready to see the two women go head-to-head. Other viewers suggest that Dr. Lim take over the hospital as “the acting president.”
The Good Doctor Season 5 winter finale ended with Shaun’s traumatic breakdown. But it looks like the upcoming second half of the season shows his coworkers rallying around Shaun, ready to take down the unethical Salen Morrison.
The Good Doctor airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC and is available for streaming the next day on Hulu.
