‘Good Girls’ Season 4: Showrunners Hint How Far Beth Will Go to Save Dean
Good Girls season 4 finally gave fans a glimpse of Beth and Dean’s early relationship. The two have gone through a lot together. But with Dean’s arrest, things are getting more complicated than they’ve ever been. However, according to the series showrunners, Beth will take bold steps to get her husband out of prison as this season of the NBC drama continues.
Dean gets arrested in ‘Good Girls’ season 4, episode 2
Season 4 of Good Girls finds Beth (Christina Hendricks), Ruby (Retta), and Annie (Mae Whitman) on the FBI’s radar once again. Agent Phoebe Donnegan (Lauren Lapkis) was sure she could find evidence connecting the ladies to a counterfeiting and money laundering scheme. But just as she started getting close to the crew, Phoebe’s boss swooped in to entrap Dean (Matthew Lillard).
Pretending to be a rep for a company called Big Kahuna, FBI Agent in charge Dave (Jonathan Silverman) convinces Dean that he’s interested in partnering with Boland Bubbles. And despite Beth’s warnings not to, Dean hands over his store’s books to Dave.
Beth is trying her best to get Dean out
Beth feels guilty about getting Dean involved in her criminal enterprise. But seeing him behind bars and away from her kids, she’s on a mission to get him out.
In the third episode of Good Girls season 4, Beth asks Dean’s friend Eric (David Theune) to confess to the crimes and take his place in jail. After realizing his life would be more meaningful behind bars, Eric agrees and heads to a bank where he tries to deposit tons of counterfeit cash. The ladies and Eric assumed he’d get arrested and become Dean’s fall guy. But ultimately, two cops swoop in, steal the cash, and leave the crew back at square one.
But at the end of the episode, when Beth begins to confess her crimes to Phoebe, she learns that Dean pleaded guilty. He was mad at her for working with Rio (Manny Montana) once again. However, as seen in the flashbacks, he’s a good guy at heart who loves Beth, so he took the fall to make things easy for her.
The ‘Good Girls’ showrunners tease Beth will go even further to save Dean
Dean may have pleaded guilty, but that doesn’t mean Beth will let him sit in jail. And according to Good Girls showrunners Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs, the fierce criminal mom is going to do something big to help Dean.
“Something presents itself in Episode 4 that puts her in a place where she can’t say no, and that also helps Dean,” Bans teased in an interview with TV Line. “It launches the season into a different sphere in terms of what Beth has to do to keep Dean out of trouble.”
“If Season 3 was about Beth’s journey to independence in crime, where she wanted to own something for herself and not be under Rio’s thumb, this season is about realizing you can’t change a person and that the only way out is to just escape all of it, on some level, and to leave it behind,” added Krebs.
It’s unclear what Beth will do, but it may have something to do with Phoebe. The agent knows that Dean is innocent, so she may help Beth find a way to get him out. Fans will just have to wait and see how things unfold.
