How ‘Good Luck Charlie’ Hid Amy Duncan Actress’ Pregnancy From Fans Throughout the First Season
Sure, the character Amy Duncan was pregnant with her youngest song, Toby, during some episodes of Good Luck Charlie. Surprisingly, though, one of the actresses in this Disney Channel original series was pregnant with her own child while filming. Thanks to some hidden tricks, fans didn’t even notice her growing stomach.
Leigh-Allyn Baker was actually pregnant during the first season of ‘Good Luck Charlie’
Although she already had Charlie when fans met Amy Duncan, the actress behind this character was actually pregnant while filming parts of the Disney Channel original series, Good Luck Charlie. Some fans of the series didn’t even notice.
“No bones about it,” Baker said during an interview with L.A. Parent. “I went through my child-bearing years on the Disney Channel. I was nine months pregnant with Griffin when I first tested for Good Luck Charlie.”
“I had him and helped raise him even on that set,” she continued. “I worked through my entire second pregnancy, working for Disney Channel. It’s been a great place for me to camp out and have a blast while I raise a family.”
When the cast of Good Luck Charlie had a virtual reunion during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the actress shared how she was pregnant while filming without any fans knowing. Basically, it was a lot of laundry baskets and covering her stomach.
The actress continued to appear as mom, Amy Duncan, throughout ‘Good Luck Charlie’
Even though she had a baby outside of the Disney Channel original series, Leigh-Allyn Baker continued to act as the eccentric and outgoing mom of the Duncan family. Amy Duncan loved the spotlight, going to Southwest Denver Community College, and supporting her children through their hardships.
As a character, Amy Duncan went through a pregnancy on the show. That was with her fifth child, a boy named Toby. With the help of the other Duncan children, Amy managed to take care of little Charlie and the house, while still showing all of the pains that normally come with being pregnant.
The character, Amy Duncan, had a baby during ‘Good Luck Charlie,’ her son named Toby
During a two-part episode, fans saw Toby finally be born, although it wasn’t exactly what Amy wanted. That was especially because Charlie’s birthday was so close to the baby’s. No matter — Charlie still had a fun day, tricking PJ and Gabe and eventually getting the doll that she wanted.
