‘Good Trouble’: Big Changes Are Coming for Mariana
Good Trouble takes us inside the lives of young adults who are learning to navigate love and life on their own. One character, Mariana, has experienced a setback in her personal and professional life. However, there are some changes coming that might help distract her from everything that has been happening. Here’s what the television series’ showrunner has to say about Mariana and the changes in her life.
Mariana had an unpleasant surprise
Mariana thought she had her life figured out, but she had a rude awakening During Good Trouble Season 3 Episode 11 (titled “Knocked Down”). She thought that by breaking up with Evan she would be able to keep her friends and have the job of her dreams. Unfortunately, everything fell apart in an instant.
Despite breaking up with her boyfriend, Mariana’s friends ditched her and said they couldn’t trust her. Her decision resulted in the loss of her friends, job, and boyfriend. However, it seems like things will begin to turn around for Mariana.
Changes for Mariana on ‘Good Trouble’
Although Mariana had a tough break, she has contributed to her troubles in some ways. Showrunner Joanna Johnson tells TV Line Mariana isn’t always honest, which sometimes complicates her personal life.
“Mariana is really realizing that she has to grow up, and she has to start being a little more authentic,” says Johnson in her TV Line interview. “We forgive Mariana because there’s no malice in the things that she does, but Mariana can be a little manipulative and sometimes not 100% honest. She can find ways to justify maybe not quite playing by the rules or not quite being 100% honest.”
Johnson says there will be changes ahead for Mariana that will help her move forward and continue along her adulting journey. “Now, she’s really having to reinvent herself and figure out who is the new Mariana, who is grown-up Mariana, and it’s time for her to change her ways. So that’s going to be a real struggle.”
One of the big changes in Mariana’s life will be a new job at the law firm where Callie works. Johnson says this new role will give Mariana a chance to “prove that she can be valuable and she’s not silly, and I think that’s something that Callie probably needs to see, as well.”
Who plays Mariana on ‘Good Trouble’?
Who is the actor who plays Mariana on Good Trouble? Mariana is played by Cierra Ramirez. One of Ramirez’s early acting roles was in a 2006 episode of CSI: Miami titled “Deviant.” That year, she made her film debut in the movie All In. In 2007, Ramirez had a recurring role on the popular series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, in which she played Jasmine for four episodes.
Ramirez’s next movie was the 2012 film Girl in Progress, alongside actor Eva Mendes. That year, she joined the cast of The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Ramirez played Kathy for 22 episodes until the series ended in 2013. Some of her other acting roles include appearances in Desperate Housewives, The Fosters, and Zoey 101.
