‘Good Witch’: Will There Be a Halloween Movie in 2021?
Spooky season is here, but don’t expect to see any witches casting new spells on Hallmark Channel. In past years, a Good Witch Halloween special has been part of the network’s October movie lineup. But the show was canceled in July 2021, which means a new movie won’t air this year.
Hallmark canceled ‘Good Witch,’ has no plans for more movies
Hallmark viewers were introduced to good witch Cassie Nightingale in 2008’s The Good Witch. In the movie, the mysterious Cassie (played by JAG alum Catherine Bell) moves into a supposedly haunted house in the small town of Middleton. It was followed by six sequels and a seven-season TV series. But Hallmark Channel canceled Good Witch in July 2021, 13 years after Cassie made her debut on the network.
“We thank our leads whose chemistry and talent made Good Witch such a beloved and uniquely special viewing experience: Catherine Bell, who has brought the inimitable Cassie Nightingale to life for 13 years, and James Denton, who as Dr. Sam Radford has added so much charm and humor to the series,” Randy Pope, the network’s senior vice president, programming and development, said in a statement.
The last episode of Good Witch aired on July 25. While some fans hoped that Hallmark might continue the series with more original movies featuring Cassie, Sam, and other Middleton residents, that won’t be happening. A representative for Hallmark told TVLine that there were no plans for additional Good Witch movies.

While there won’t be a new Good Witch movie this year, you can stream the seven original movies, which aired between 2008 and 2014: The Good Witch; The Good Witch’s Garden; The Good Witch’s Gift; The Good Witch’s Family; The Good Witch’s Charm; The Good Witch’s Destiny; and The Good Witch’s Wonder. All are currently available on Hallmark’s streaming service, Hallmark Movies Now.
The Good Witch TV series premiered in 2015. All seven seasons of the show — including five Halloween specials — are available to stream on Netflix. Episodes are also available for purchase on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and Vudu.
Catherine Bell thanked ‘Good Witch’ fans for their support over the years
After the last-ever episode of Good Witch aired, series star Bell took to Instagram to thank the show’s fans for their support.
“I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your love and support for all these years for Good Witch,” she said in the video. “It’s been the most incredible journey.”
“It’s been an incredible run of movies and then seven seasons of the show,” said Catherine Disher, who played Martha Tinsdale in all the Good Witch movies and the TV series. “And we’re all so, so grateful.”
