Grammys Producer Confirms Kanye West and Bianca Censori Weren’t Invited to the Ceremony
After Kanye West and Bianca Censori left the Grammys this Sunday, rumors flew that they were asked to go. Censori’s outfit was so revealing that many wondered if she broke California’s indecent exposure laws. Nobody at the Grammys asked the couple to leave, it just didn’t make sense for them to stay. Though West received a nomination for Best Rap Song, he did not have a seat for the televised portion of the show.

Despite the rumors of ejection, Grammys executive producer Raj Kapoor confirmed that nobody asked West and Censori to leave the ceremony. They did so of their own volition after briefly walking the red carpet. West received a Best Rap Song nomination for “Carnival.” Kendrick Lamar took home the award for “Not Like Us” during the pre-televised ceremony.
“From what I understand, they were there for the red carpet,” Kapoor told People. “I’m not sure if he was at Pre-Tel [a special pre-telecast presentation where most of the awards were handed out], which is at the Peacock Theater before the main show. But that award was definitely in Pre-Tel.”
If they tried to enter the theater, though, there may have been a problem. Kapoor said West was not invited to the televised ceremony.
“If they were invited guests because we [would] know everybody who’s seated at the VIP tables that we have in front,” he said. “We know each person who’s coming because every table is numbered. And so our director has to know where those artists are for award categories.”
As West didn’t have a role in the show as a performer or presenter, he did not have a seat waiting for him.
“They didn’t have a nomination on the show and Kanye wasn’t presenting,” Kapoor said. “He was not performing either, which is mostly what those seats are.”

Though they only briefly appeared on the red carpet, West and Censori were among the most talked-about topics of the night. Many viewers criticized her barely-there dress and expressed concern for her in the marriage. West took to social media to defend his wife.
“My wife’s first red carpet opened a whole new world,” the rapper wrote on X, formerly Twitter (via Rolling Stone). “I keep staring at this photo like I was staring in admiration that night thinking wow I am so lucky to have a wife that is so smart talented brave and hot. She took a break from shooting her first film to make a movie in real life We tailored that invisible dress 6 times And just like magic poof we disappeared Thank you to all the outlets who recognized us and gave us back the energy we put in.”
He also took a shot at those criticizing him.
“People asked how would your mother feel,” he wrote. “You don’t know my mama b****.”
He is one of the winningest artists of all time at the ceremony
West did not win anything at this year’s ceremony, but he already has many Grammy trophies. He picked up his first wins in 2005 for his debut album, College Dropout.
In total, West has won 24 Grammys, making him one of the top award winners of all time at the show. His nomination this year was his 76th.
