Former Disney star Demi Lovato played a teenage girl named Hayley May. In season six, she came to Grey Sloan Hospital seeking help for her misdiagnosis. Before arriving, May received a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia. But, she knew something else was wrong. Dr. Alex Karev (played by Justin Chambers) uncovered her actual diagnosis. Then, May undergoes surgery and is grateful for her new lease on life.
‘Lovecraft Country’ star Jurnee Smollett played a patient in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Prior to fighting villainous monsters in the HBO series Lovecraft Country, Jurnee Smollett played a patient in Grey Sloan Hospital. In season four, the actor played a young woman named Beth Monroe. According to Insider, she had an inoperable tumor and was madly in love with her boyfriend, who had the same condition. Both patients were chosen to participate in Meredith Grey and Derek Shepherd’s clinical trial. Spoiler alert, she survives the surgery, but her boyfriend doesn’t.
Sarah Paulson portrayed a prominent surgeon in the medical drama
Before appearing in the FX anthology series American Horror Story, actor Sarah Paulson played a younger version of Ellis Grey in Grey’s Anatomy. In season six, young Ellis and Dr. Richard Webber appear in a flashback. According to Bustle, they were both caring for a patient diagnosed with GRID, later referred to as AIDS.

After her mom gets injured from an earthquake, doctors talk Ruby through rigorous medical procedures to save her. While on the phone, she performs CPR on her mother before the helicopter arrives to rescue them.
Emmy-award winning actor Elisabeth Moss shined in the medical drama
The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss played Nina Rogerson in Grey’s Anatomy Season 3 Episode 19. Nina’s mother was admitted into Grey Sloan hospital to undergo extensive surgery for a rare bone disorder. She is very protective of her mother and goes against the surgery. When her mother wants the procedure, Nina is hesitant but supportive. Later, her mother dies from the surgery.
