‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Dr. Kai Bartley Will Be a Recurring Character, What Does This Mean for Amelia?
The cast of Grey’s Anatomy is once again growing. E.R. Fightmaster, who plays Dr. Kai Bartley, will be a recurring actor for season 18. What will this mean for Dr. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone)? It could mean there will be a steamy romance!
Dr. Kai Bartley was introduced on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy started with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) being invited to Minnesota. Dr. Hamilton (Peter Gallagher) offered her a job to find a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
While considering it, Meredith invited Amelia to check out the hospital. Meredith wanted her to join her team if she did take the job.
Amelia met Dr. Kai Bartley there. She was already a fan of the neuroscientist’s research. Meredith did accept the job, and the next episode showed Amelia chatting with Kai over video chat. Amelia was overheated because the air conditioning in Grey-Sloan went out. Kai tried to help by telling her to close her eyes and imagine she was somewhere cool.
Fans couldn’t help but notice the scene was pretty steamy. Now it looks like there might be more in the future.
Dr. Kai Bartley will be a recurring character, what does this mean for Amelia?
It looks like fans will be seeing more of Dr. Kai. ABC announced Fightmaster is now a recurring actor in the show, according to Variety. They are also the first non-binary doctor on the show. Fightmaster reacted to the news on Twitter with, “Ok, I’m blushing!”
Kai and Amelia have already shown they have chemistry. Amelia also recently broke up with Link (Chris Carmack) because she realized they want different things in life. It wouldn’t be surprising if she started a new romance with Kai this season.
Meredith is already dating someone in Minnesota. She reconnected with Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) while she was learning about her new job. It didn’t take long for them to start hanging out, and Nick pushed Meredith to take the job even though she was scared of failing. It would be interesting to see Meredith and Amelia find love in a different state and have to balance that with their jobs in Grey-Sloan.
When will ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ return?
The medical show is taking a short break. It’ll be back on Nov. 11 with a crossover episode with Station 19.
The teaser shows an explosion will go off. Someone asks if it was an earthquake. Someone else suggests it was a bomb.
“We’re going to be flooded with massive trauma,” Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) tells Teddy Altman (Kim Raver). “There was a second explosion,” Travis Montgomery (Jay Hayden) says.
It’s unclear if Kai will be in the new episode. But now fans know they’ll be back eventually.
