‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Are Outraged at Owen, but a Few Come to His Defense Over His Outburst at Amelia
The ABC hit drama, Grey’s Anatomy is now in its 16th season and fans are just as invested as they were in the first. Only four original cast members remain (Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr.), but we have come to love the newbies almost just as much as the OG.
The official Grey’s Anatomy Instagram account posted a short sneak peek from tonight’s episode that has fans reeling over Owen’s (Kevin McKidd) outburst at Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone). She just told him that she’s pregnant with another man’s child. Let’s take a look at the clip and why fans are getting unruly.
Amelia finally tells Owen that she is pregnant—he’s not happy for her
On the November 7, 2019, episode of Grey’s Anatomy, we will see Amelia tell her ex-husband, Owen that she is pregnant with Link’s (Chris Carmack) baby. From the sneak peek clip, we can tell he is shocked.
In the next scene, we see Owen expressing his true feelings over the secret. “You didn’t want to have kids, but now you are with somebody else. You are perfectly happy having a baby with another man.” He is yelling and very angry.
When Amelia and Owen were married she did not want to have kids, but fans will be quick to point out that she did have a brain tumor at that time. The tumor affected her emotions and demeanor in many ways.
She and Owen called it quits and now she is unexpectedly pregnant with her boyfriend’s child.

The fan reactions to the promo have been almost entirely about Owen. They are outraged that he is reacting this way.
“Even apart, Owen can be toxic and abusive, no one deserves it !! He has no right to charge anything for Amelia, he made his choice, formed the family he always wanted. Now it’s Amelia’s turn, and she’s visibly better and happier without him!! I confess I’m looking forward to meeting the baby,” one Instagram user wrote.
Over 200 fans liked the comment referring to Owen as toxic. Another fan replied, “He just had a baby and lives with someone else, he has no right to judge Amelia.”
Countless fans are up in arms over the way Owen yells at pregnant Amelia, “Owen doesn’t get to bash her, not now, not ever,” wrote another fan. Fans are openly distraught over Owen’s reaction to Amelia’s baby news.
A few fans come to Owen’s defense
There is truth in the fact that Amelia did not want a child with Owen when they were married. Not everyone is on Amelia’s side.
“I think I will give him a little while to process this news before I will start passing judgment. He has a right to how he feels about this. He has worked on himself with therapy, and is handling his emotions pretty well. I think it is reasonable for him to initially be upset. Once he sits with the news and looks at the big picture, he will chill out. This is a man with PTSD, depression, possibly bipolar and whatever other scars he still holds that we don’t know about. I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now,” one fan defended Owen.
This fan is not the only one who is on Owen’s side. Another Instagram user wrote, “Owen is right. Amelia was such a bad wife to him and he loved her so much.”
