Levi refuses to return to the hospital on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Levi lost a patient and didn’t have adequate help because of the Webber method. He had to talk about the case in front of the other doctors in “Living in a Divided” house, but he walked out. This is after he seemed to have a mental breakdown.
“Legacy” showed Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) visiting Levi, who is playing a video game repeatedly at home. Webber tries to convince him to come back to the hospital, but he shows no interest in it. Instead, he would rather try repeatedly to win the video game because he’s allowed to learn from his mistakes when his character dies.
Webber suggests that Levi try to teach, switch specialties, or go into research. Levi refuses to do any of these things and says he “bled out,” so there’s nothing left to save.
Jake Borelli worries Levi could pull a Cristina Yang
Over the years, fans have watched many doctors struggle after an emotionally-draining case. Borelli revealed how he felt about his character’s journey with E! News.
“I’m going to speak from the heart here as an actor,” he said. “Sometimes when you read a script that says you are not you working at the hospital or you’re walking out of the hospital, you’re like, ‘What does this mean?’ Because yes, there are some greats like Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), who walks away and comes back. But then she walked away one time and didn’t come back.”
He then said, “At this point, I’m still worried that Levi doesn’t work at the hospital.” Cristina was written off the show back in season 10. She left the hospital to work in Zurich to take over Preston Burke’s (Isaiah Washington) job. This is after she was disappointed in losing the Harper Avery Award.
What Levi’s exit could mean for Dr. Richard Webber
It’s still unclear if Levi will be gone for good. But it’s clear Richard is very much responsible for him.
Many doctors criticized the method during the M&M. Richard was defensive at first, but eventually, he realized where he failed the residents, especially Levi. This episode now shows Richard is trying to build Levi back up, but if he fails, this might affect Richard’s confidence, even more, to move forward as a teacher. Fans will have to wait and see if his time with Levi will lead to Richard trying again.
