‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Jesse Williams and Sarah Drew React to Jackson and April’s Season 17 Reunion
On May 6, Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 is bringing back fan-favorite April Kepner (Sarah Drew), and viewers couldn’t be more excited to watch the character reunite with Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). Now, the promo for the all-new episode has been released, and Williams and Drew’s reaction to the Japril meetup is hilarious.
April Kepner and Jackson Avery’s relationship at the end of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 14
When Jackson and April divorced in Grey’s Anatomy Season 12, many fans hoped the couple would get back together one day. But the romantic reunion never happened.
In Grey’s Anatomy Season 14, April reunited with her ex-fiancé, Matthew Taylor (Justin Bruening). Meanwhile, April quit her job at Grey Sloan Memorial to provide medical care for homeless communities in Seattle. Then before Drew left the show in the season finale, April married Matthew.
That said, the Grey’s Anatomy Season 14 finale included Jackson and April’s final scene together. The moment highlighted the couple’s growth and friendship status. Jackson revealed he was “really happy” for his ex. April also asked Jackson to stay for her wedding. But even so, it was difficult to define their relationship.
“You’re my… of course I want you to stay,” April told Jackson.

Now, Grey’s Anatomy fans are still somewhat aware of April and Jackson’s relationship. The exes co-parent their daughter, Harriet Kepner-Avery. It also seems April is still married to Matthew. Meanwhile, Jackson started a friends-with-benefits relationship with Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington).
Regardless, it’s likely fans will receive an update on Jackson and April’s relationship in Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 14. In the new promo trailer for the next episode, Jackson showed up at April’s house unannounced.
Meanwhile, ABC’s teaser photos revealed the exes will spend some time together as they talk over wine. The network also confirmed Jackson will visit his father, Robert Avery (Eric Roberts). But how will April’s involvement be tied to Robert? We’ll have to wait and see.

Whatever happens when Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 14 airs on May 6, Williams and Drew’s social media teasers have been bringing fans some joy. Following the promo on April 22, Drew posted a behind-the-scenes photo of Williams looking a bit shocked.
“@iJesseWilliams is you all after that promo,” Drew teased Grey’s Anatomy fans on Twitter. “May 6!!!”
Meanwhile, Williams took a screenshot of Jackson’s face when April opened the door in the Grey’s Anatomy promo.
“Oh sh*t wrong house,” Williams captioned the pic on Instagram. Then Drew replied, “I hate you.”
It’s been almost three years since April and Jackson’s last scene in Grey’s Anatomy Season 14, so we’re definitely looking forward to the reunion in the new season. But whatever happens next, it’s nice to see the cast members joking together again on social media.
