‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 Teddy and Owen recap before the next episode

Teddy and Owen began Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 on the rocks; however, Teddy didn’t know why. In season 16, she ended her affair with Tom Koracick (Greg Germann); however, she also had sex with him one last time. The interaction was recorded in a voicemail to Owen on their wedding day. He canceled the wedding, but she had no idea why.

When Grey’s Anatomy returned for season 17, Owen confronted Teddy in episode 2. She pleaded with her through a heartfelt request for honesty and truth.

“Do you think maybe you’re projecting Teddy?” Owen asked her. “What are you not saying? What are you not telling me? I’m right here, and I love you. And I trust you. You are my best friend. So if there is something you need to tell me, now is the time.”

However, Teddy denied there was anything she needed to tell him. Owen played the recording for her and ended their relationship. Throughout the rest of season 17, Teddy tried to apologize and rekindle the relationship. However, Owen refused to forgive her.

In a later episode, Teddy finally admits the truth about her best friend and lover, Allison. However, the honesty only makes things worse in Owen’s opinion since naming their daughter, Allison, is now based on a lie.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 17 Next Episode shows a distraught Teddy Altman

Teddy and Owen tried their best to save Andrew DeLuca in Grey’s Anatomy Season 17 Episode 7. A human trafficker stabbed him, and his injuries were too severe. He lost too much blood and died, although the surgeons did everything they could.

Although Teddy made it through a day of work, she broke down after DeLuca’s memorial. In Grey’s Anatomy‘s next episode things look very dark for Teddy.

“She hasn’t spoken,” Owen says in the promo trailer. “She hasn’t eaten. If something doesn’t change soon, I’m going to have to get her admitted.”

Although Owen is taking care of Teddy, he hasn’t forgiven her for cheating and lying. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) pleads with Owen to forgive her.

“The only time I’ve ever seen that kind of look, it’s in soldiers,” Owen adds. “And plenty of them never came back.”

What’s wrong with Teddy?

Viewers do not know what is wrong with Teddy in Grey’s Anatomy‘s next episode. However, since Owen said that he saw her symptoms many times before in soldiers, it could be post-traumatic stress disorder.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Teddy shows many of the symptoms of PTSD. It is a condition triggered by a terrifying event. Since Teddy witnessed the death of her close friend and co-worker, she fits that description.

“Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares, and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event,” the website explains.

Teddy is experiencing many of the symptoms of PTSD in the promo for Grey’s Anatomy‘s next episode. Fans will find out what’s wrong with Teddy when the series returns on March 25, 2021, at 9 p.m. EST on ABC.
