Grey’s Anatomy officially confirmed Addison Montgomery’s (Kate Walsh) return on Thursday, Oct. 14, and many fans are itching to watch the character’s reunion with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). So what can fans expect from the two powerhouse surgeons? The new Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3 promo trailer teased what’s next for Addison and Meredith — here’s everything we know.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 3 promo trailer teases Addison Montgomery’s entrance

On YouTube, the promo trailer for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3, titled “Hotter Than Hell,” opens with a shot of the Grey Sloan Memorial residents buzzing about Addison’s return. Then Addison walks into the room, and makes a reference to her iconic entrance in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 1 finale. 

“I’m Addison Montgomery,” she says. “And you must be the group that must be screwing up the program.”

Addison’s original quote calls out Meredith for sleeping with her then-husband, Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey). But regardless, the new residents are absolutely shocked, and Addison walks away smiling. Now, it seems Addison will help Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) teach the Grey Sloan residents when she returns for a cameo in the next few new episodes.

New ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 3 preview hints why Addison Montgomery and Meredith Grey meet again

Now, the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3 promo didn’t just leave fans with Addison’s entrance. The new preview also highlights why Meredith and Addison meet up again. 

In the teaser, Richard walks into Addison’s OR, and he reveals the AC is down throughout the whole hospital. He asks how long she needs to close her patient, suggesting she needs to end the transplant surgery quickly to avoid infection. So Addison asks for Meredith.

“Get me Meredith Grey,” Addison says.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Camilla Luddington Confirms a Major Addison and Jo Fan Theory for Season 18

Now, we’ll have to wait and see what happens to Meredith and Addison in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 3 on Oct. 14. But Pompeo seemingly confirmed what the promo teased in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. 

“We are doing a surgery together,” Pompeo said. “Addison Montgomery is presented with a super-challenging surgery, and she needs some help.”

Meanwhile, showrunner Krista Vernoff recently shared how Addison and Meredith’s relationship has changed now that we’re in season 18 of Grey’s Anatomy

“There is so much water under the bridge between them,” Vernoff said of Meredith and Addison. “Though there’s real respect between them, there’s also new dynamics you’ve never seen before on the show.”

While it seems Addison and Meredith might get into it during Grey’s Anatomy Season 18, we’re interested in how this new dynamic plays out. It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen these two together. So, at this point, anything can happen. Get ready.
