New ‘Station 19’ Season 5 and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 5 promo trailer hints at Ben Warren’s death

Following new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 on Oct. 21, ABC released two promo trailers for the next crossover. The teaser for season 5 episode 5 of Station 19 confirms the event will be focused on an “explosion.” Then the preview for Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 5, titled “Bottle Up And Explode,” fills in the rest of the gaps.

In the new trailer, a big explosion shakes the Station 19 crew and the doctors at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Someone asks whether there was an earthquake. But Jack Gibson (Grey Damon) suggests the explosion could’ve been a bomb.

Meanwhile, Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) prepare for incoming traumas. Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer) breaks down in tears right outside of the operating room. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) also looks incredibly concerned. Travis Montgomery (Jay Hayden) tells Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) there was a second explosion. Then the Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 crossover trailer confirms “not everyone will survive,” and Ben is seemingly the only one who is in danger in the preview.

Miranda Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) says she’s been trying to call Ben, but he hasn’t been picking up. A clip of Ben also flashes by, and he looks absolutely terrified. Then later, Bailey rushes a patient into the hospital on a stretcher as she tells others to get out of her way. But could this patient be her husband? The Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy crossover ends with Bailey as she walks through Grey Sloan wearing a worried expression on her face.

When ABC released the preview for episode 5 of Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and Station 19 Season 5, many fans were distraught over the possibility of Ben’s death.

“Don’t you dare kill Ben! Bailey will not survive this!!” a fan wrote on YouTube.

But for now, Shondaland viewers will have to wait and see what happens in the next crossover. That said, it seems the new episode won’t disappoint. When speaking on FOX 39’s Good Day Stateline on Oct. 6, George teased the next Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 crossover.

“I’ll be at Grey’s Anatomy this afternoon shooting,” he said. “And this next crossover, you’re not ready. No one is ready for this crossover.”

Then Camilla Luddington, who plays Jo Wilson, shared how she felt about the upcoming event.

“I said that it feels like a midseason finale,” she said. “That’s how wild it is. And it’s not [a midseason finale].”

When will ‘Station 19’ Season 5 Episode 5 and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 5 return to ABC?

While we’re happy to hear the next crossover episode between Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and Station 19 Season 5 won’t be the midseason finale, Luddington and George’s comments were a bit worrisome. But hopefully, Ben isn’t leaving the show anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Shondaland fans will have to wait a while to find out what actually unfolds on both shows. ABC confirmed Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy will return on Thursday, Nov. 11. So we’ll have to endure two weeks without any new episodes. Stay tuned.
