‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Camilla Luddington Tweets About The CW Roles She Auditioned For But Didn’t Get
Camilla Luddington of Grey’s Anatomy has established herself as a central character on the ABC hit series. Already compiling some credits to her name before starting on the medical drama, Luddington had auditioned for quite a few roles that didn’t pan out before landing the part of Dr. Jo Karev.
Last week, the British actress took to Twitter to share some of the characters she tried out for but wasn’t offered.
Pre-‘Grey’s Anatomy’
Before hitting the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial, Luddington had a wide variety of roles to her credit. According to People, Luddington played Jane Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies: Dawn of the Dreadfuls, a prequel to the Jane Austen parody Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and had small roles on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and Days of Our Lives. The actress was also cast as a regular on the fifth seasons for two cable series, Californication and True Blood.
The native Brit’s accent made her a natural to play the part of Kate Middleton in the 2011 Lifetime movie William & Kate, where Luddington revealed that she actually had to attend ‘Princess School’ to learn the gestures and traditions of the Royals. Though the TV flick received negative press, the Lifetime movie brought in a solid audience.
“What’s been great is that we’ve had so many people approach us and say, ‘We tuned in because we thought it would be the worst movie ever made, apparently, and we loved it!’” Luddington told Conan O’Brien in a previous interview. “So I almost feel like the bad press sort of helped the people want to watch it and really tune in. So, it’s been great.”
Camilla Luddington walks down memory land on Twitter
Last week, Luddington and her husband Matthew Alan were apparently waxing nostalgic on past auditions, where she took to Twitter to share with her followers some prime parts she tried out for but didn’t land.
“Was reminiscing with my husband about some roles we auditioned for (over a decade ago) and didn’t get. I was thinking it might be fun to share just a couple ha!!!!” Luddington tweeted. “1. I auditioned for (and Obvs didn’t get but thought it would be so fun to play) Rebekah on #TheVampireDiaries“
The role Luddington was referring to went to Claire Holt for The CW series. Though her fans adore Luddington’s acting skills, they seem to prefer the star dealing with blood in a lab coat rather than as a snack.
“Omg seriously?! I loved Clair playing Rebekah and I’m sort if glad you didn’t get it because then we probably wouldn’t have you as our Jo Wilson but I would’ve loved to see it, even if just for one scene,” a follower wrote, to which Luddington confirmed she would not have been able to take on the Grey’s role had she gotten the part on The Vampire Diaries. “I would not being playing Jo that’s exactly right!” the actress posted.
‘Grey’s’ star didn’t have luck with The CW shows
Luddington went on to list two other roles she tried out for on The CW Network, but to no avail.
“I also auditioned for alex dupre on #OneTreeHill haaa!” Luddington posted, giving a shout out to the actresses who did land the roles she didn’t get. “Obviously these roles went to fantastic ladies and wasn’t meant to be but so funny to think about which roles you do and don’t book.” The part of Alex Dupre went to Jana Kramer.
“Oh and last one! I auditioned and realllllly wanted Alex in #Nikita but the wonderful Lyndsy Fonseca killed it in that role,” she wrote of the CW show, praising Fonseca for her portrayal of Alex.
While Luddington may have not populated the shows on The CW, the actress has risen to fame on Grey’s Anatomy much to the delight of her fans.
