‘Grey’s Anatomy’: What Is Justin Chamber’s Net Worth after Leaving the Show?
Check in on your friends who are Grey’s Anatomy fans. Chances are, they aren’t doing so well. Everyone is still reeling from the news that Justin Chambers is leaving the iconic series.
Chambers has been on Grey’s since it first premiered in 2005. His character, Alex Karev, has become one of the stars of the show, alongside Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith Grey.
For the past fifteen years, Chambers has graced our screens as Karev. Now that he’s exiting, people have been wondering what will happen to the show and what Chambers will do for work.
Justin Chambers’ career
Chambers never set out to be an actor. In fact, he was a model first. He began modeling after being discovered while riding public transportation in Paris. He, then, worked for brands like Dolce & Gabbana and Calvin Klein. He made the jump to acting in 1996 with Another World. He went on to score roles in Liberty Heights, The Wedding Planner, and Zodiac before he landed his career-altering job on Grey’s Anatomy.
What is Justin Chamber’s net worth?
As a series regular on an award-winning television show that has been running for over a decade, Chambers has had to rack up some serious cash. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Chambers’ Grey’s Anatomy salary was a whopping $9 million at the time of his departure from the show. He is currently worth $18 million.
Justin Chambers announces that he’s quitting
Chambers announced his exit from Grey’s after the finale had already aired.
“There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years,” he said in a statement to People. “For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.”
“As I move on from Grey’s Anatomy, I want to thank the ABC family, Shonda Rimes, original cast members Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson and James Pickens, and the rest of the amazing cast and crew, both past and present, and, of course, the fans for an extraordinary ride.”
Pompeo was not pleased to see Chambers go.
When Vanity Fair tweeted that the show was about to experience one of it’s biggest losses yet, she shared those sentiments.
“Truer words have never been spoken,” she responded to the tweet.
How did Alex Karev’s story end?
When Chambers first announced that he was leaving the show, fans wondered what would happen to his character. The show’s creator, Shonda Rhimes, has always gotten creative with how she sends her characters off. Would Karev simply move across the world to work at a new hospital like Cristina Yang, or would he end up dying in some sort of horrible accident like Derek Shepherd or George O’ Malley?
Well, fans didn’t have to wonder for long because it soon came out that Chambers’ final episode had already aired on Nov. 14. His final moments on the series showed him arguing on behalf of Grey in front of a medical board. On the midseason finale, his character was supposedly off taking care of his sick mother.
