Meredith Grey is one of the main characters of the show and is the daughter of the late world-renowned surgeon, Ellis Grey. Due to her last name, many held her to the highest standards, and Meredith was faced with a lot of responsibility to exceed others’ high expectations.

How long have Meredith and DeLuca been together?
To say Meredith Grey, portrayed by Ellen Pompeo, and Andrew DeLuca, played by Giacomo Gianniotti, has had a struggling relationship would be an understatement. While Mers and DeLuca had their first kiss in Season 14, it wasn’t until Season 15, when they began exploring their romantic feelings for each other. The duo had a bit of a rocky start with several on-again, off-again situations.

What bothers fans about the couple’s age gap
There is a noticeable age gap between DeLuca and Meredith that bothers several fans.
However, one Reddit user clears up that “it’s not even necessarily the age itself, but it’s the maturity difference. They’re at completely opposite stages in their life, in careers, family life and just experience in general.”
The characters are at different life stages, and it could be the obvious cause of several of their relationship issues. DeLuca showcases extremely immature tendencies that have fans wishing a better partner for the award-winning surgeon, Meredith. Since he is only a resident, many think his lack of experience could also be holding Mers back from her full potential professionally.
Although the same dynamic was written, in reverse, between Meredith and Derek, the maturity levels were definitely not as far apart as Meredith’s current love interest.
