Grimes Confessed She’s Had to Move Multiple Times: ‘People Keep Finding Where We Live’
Grimes is a free-spirited artist, with an out-of-this-world style. Even though she dated one of the richest men on Earth, Grimes is still passionate about her own art. But having been Elon Musk’s girlfriend has definitely affected her life. According to a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Grimes has had to move multiple times, in part because of her relationship with Musk.
Grimes and Elon Musk live in separate houses, but are together
There have been rumors swirling for months that Grimes and Musk had separated. The two didn’t seem to be spending as much time together, and Musk himself referred to them as “semi-separated” in an interview with Time Magazine.
According to Grimes, that’s kind of the truth. But things are more complicated than that. It seems that their relationship is also incredibly futuristic. So futuristic that there’s no word for it yet. Grimes told Vanity Fair:
“I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time … We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.”
Following the release of the Vanity Fair interview, it was reported that Musk and Grimes had broken up, again, according to the LA Times. However, that hasn’t stopped Grimes from getting caught up in people trying to track Musk.
Grimes has had to move multiple times
According to Grimes, every time people find her address, she’s forced to move. Grimes has two young children with Musk, and doesn’t want anything to happen to them. If the whole world knows their location, things could go south quick. Grimes told Vanity Fair “We move and move and move because people keep finding where we live.”
Some may point to Jack Sweeney, a teen tracking Musk’s private jet flights on Twitter, as the culprit here. According to The Guardian, Musk even offered Sweeney $5,000 to stop tracking him. The reality is Sweeney’s efforts probably don’t hint at Grimes’ location. He uses publicly available data, and his account is focused on calling out Musk for the enormous carbon footprint he is creating with his private jet flights.
Elon Musk and Grimes recently welcomed their second child via surrogate
Musk and Grimes welcomed their second child in late 2021. The baby was born via surrogate because Grimes had a lot of trouble with her first pregnancy. Baby Exa Dark Sideræl was welcomed into the world, joining her brother X Æ A-12. Grimes and Musk call them Y and X for short.
Baby X was talked about a lot in the press, which is something that Grimes didn’t want to happen with baby Y. She wasn’t able to get her wish, unfortunately. Even though Grimes tried to keep the baby a secret, she confirmed little Y’s existence in her Vanity Fair interview. No matter what happens with the public, Y and X will have each other. The two are just 18 months apart, so they’re sure to be close.
