‘Growing up Hip Hop’: Kristinia DeBarge Is Engaged to the Producer She Said She Wasn’t Dating on the Show
Some of the children of music royalty star on the WE tv series, Growing up Hip Hop. One of the stars was Kristinia DeBarge, who was one of the series’ original stars but departed a few years ago. She recently announced her engagement to a producer who once appeared with her on the show.
Kristinia DeBarge on ‘Growing up Hip Hop’
DeBarge was one of the original cast members of the franchise’s flagship series, the Los Angeles-based Growing Up Hip Hop. She starred in the series from the first season up until the first half of the fourth season, from 2016-2018.
A member of the DeBarge music dynasty, she is the daughter of James DeBarge. She first appeared as a contestant on the American Idol spinoff, American Juniors. She also became a music star in her own right with the 2009 hit single, “Goodbye.”
She was an original cast member on Growing up Hip Hop alongside Romeo Miller, Angela Simmons, Boogie Dash, Egypt Criss, and TJ Mizzel. Other cast members later joined such as Vanessa Simmons, Briana Latrise and Tahira “Tee Tee” Francis.
DeBarge was mostly a neutral figure on the show, not getting into many conflicts and sometimes being a mediator. Not much conflict came until the introduction of Latrise and Francis in her later seasons, in which things came up such as the rumor that DeBarge was involved with one of her music producers, Adonis Shropshire.
When confronted on the show, both Shropshire and DeBarge denied that they were together, noting that the former is married.
The two announced their engagement on social media
DeBarge announced their engagement on her Instagram page this week.
The caption reads, “This picture was taken moments before you asked my hand in marriage. I’m so thrilled to say that I’m your fiancé & I can’t wait to be become [sic] your wife!! I love you baby!! Thanks for making me the happiest girl in the world!!”
Shropshire commented on the post, seemingly referencing when people thought they were dating on the show. “I’m so blessed to be able to spend my life with you. We owe no one any explanations. We owe each other the promise we made on this night. #usagainsttheworld,” he said.
People in DeBarge’s Instagram comments and on social media also brought up what happened on the show.
One viewer tweeted, “Soooo Kristinia Debarge is engaged to her manager, Adonis. @brianalatrise, yoou tried to tell us 2 seasons ago!!”
“Isn’t this the same guy she continuously said she was not dating they were just friends,” tweeted someone else.
Another said, “GUHH Kristinia and Adonis are engaged.. Thought they weren’t together on the show? #hmmmm.”
DeBarge has not stated if she would ever return for another season of the show.
