Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s Relationship Timeline
Some Hollywood couples seem to make perfect sense. When we see Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez together, we often think this should’ve happened a long time ago. In contrast, the romance between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton seemingly came out of nowhere, but the couple is still going very strong.
From friendly co-workers who were married to other people, to live-in partners who are raising Stefani’s sons together and singing duets, Shelton and Stefani’s relationship has been a beautiful and unlikely journey.
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton met on ‘The Voice’
Shelton had been a staple on The Voice since its debut in 2011, but Stefani didn’t come aboard as a coach until 2014. The first time the pair was ever photographed together as co-workers was on May 2, 2014. At the time, Stefani was married to Gavin Rossdale and Shelton was married to Miranda Lambert
In Nov. 2014, Stefani and Shelton took a cheerful snap which the No Doubt frontwoman shared on her Instagram page captioning it,” 💓him @blakeshelton @nbcthevoice gx.” By July 2015, Shelton had filed for divorce from Lambert and in Aug. 2015, Stefan and Rossdale called it quits after Rossdale was caught having an affair with the family’s nanny.
By Nov. 2015, exactly one year after their friendly Instagram debut, rumors began swirling that Shelton and Stefani were an item. During an interview On Air with Ryan Seacrest, the American Idol host flat out asked Stefani if the rumors were true. Stefani refused to answer, saying instead, “I think he’s hot.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s romance took off quickly
Shortly after Stefani’s cryptic interview with Secrest, she and Shelton confirmed their relationship. On Dec. 27, 2015, they attended their first public event as a couple at the Cardinals vs Green Bay Packers football game.
For Christmas, Shelton gifted Stefani a horse named Halo. Then on March 2, 2016, they attended the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party where they were photographed together on the red carpet.
In an interview with Billboard, Shelton revealed how the romance started. “She didn’t tell me much, because we didn’t know each other at the time, but she said, ‘I’m going through something very similar to what you’re going through. I understand. And I hate it.'”
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have moved in together
At the end of 2019, Stefani and Shelton purchased a house together and moved in together. An insider told Hollywood Life,
The house was a big commitment for both of them and they’re very, very happy to be living there. Gwen loves to cook so she loves hosting dinner parties there. Blake has taken on the role of a second father figure to Gwen’s boys and they really respect Blake. He’s very helpful now with everything for the boys, especially now that they’re under the same roof. It was a big but good step for them. Living together makes it easier for them as a couple since they’re always together, anyways.
The pair have showcased their time together amid quarantine, with Stefani even becoming Shelton’s barber. They also recently dropped their fourth duets together, “Happy Anywhere.”
“An Okie boy and a California girl look on paper like an unlikely match, but what matters is she’s a great human being,” Blake told People. “She is the most understanding, kind-hearted person I’ve ever met and I learn something from her every day. “
