Gwen Stefani’s Friends Allegedly ‘Questioning’ Her Marriage to Blake Shelton Due to His Hunting Habit
No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani and country star Blake Shelton prove that opposites attract. While Stefani was born and raised in California, she’s adapted to Shelton’s Oklahoma lifestyle and loves it. Unfortunately, she and Shelton don’t share a mutual love for all of their hobbies. Hunting is a hard no for Stefani. Here’s what a source said about how her friends are “questioning” her marriage to Shelton because of his love of hunting.
Gwen Stefani’s friends are allegedly unsure about her marriage to Blake Shelton because he loves to hunt
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani have a wonderful romance that started when they met on The Voice in 2014. Stefani grew up a city girl who used to live in California. And Shelton has since shown her a whole different perspective on his Oklahoma farm. Now, Stefani loves the wide open spaces that the southern state offers.
Unfortunately, Stefani won’t engage with one of Shelton’s favorite hobbies: hunting. A source told Life & Style that Stefani still struggles with Shelton’s love of the sport.
“They agreed to disagree about his hunting back when they first got together, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy thing for Gwen to handle,” the insider alleged. “She’s a huge animal rights person and has been mostly vegan for a long time, so it’s pretty hard to have her husband out there killing animals for a good time.”
The insider added that Shelton gets a “kick out of rubbing it in her face” even though he knows that the idea of hunting makes Stefani feel “sick to her stomach.”
“She’s always said it won’t be a deal breaker for her, but friends are seriously questioning how such opposites can go the distance,” the source continued.
Blake Shelton admitted years ago that he’d never take the No Doubt frontwoman hunting
In June 2016, Blake Shelton spoke to Rolling Stone about his life. The conversation included his love of hunting in his home state when he wasn’t filming The Voice.
“Unless it’s raining, I’m hunting or fishing or farming,” Shelton explained. “Not to sound like a cliché, like any other country singer, but I’m going crazy right now because I put about 15 acres of corn in about three weeks ago, and I haven’t been back to look at it. I love growing it.”
The country singer noted that he loves to hunt for caribou and elk in Canada, but bowhunting for white-tailed deer in Oklahoma is his “favorite thing.”
“It takes me back to my childhood,” Shelton added. “There’s just so many memories and special things that have happened to me that revolve around deer season, honestly. It’s my favorite time of year.”
When the interviewer asked Shelton if he’d ever bring Stefani along, he gave an obvious no.
“I know you know better than that,” he said. “I can just see her: ‘Get ’em!’ That makes me laugh.”
The country star allegedly wanted to take Gwen Stefani’s boys hunting
Gwen Stefani will likely never willingly go hunting with Blake Shelton. However, a source told HollywoodLife in 2017 that Shelton hoped to take Stefani’s three boys — Kingston, 18, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10 — hunting with him sometime. Unfortunately, Stefani is allegedly “opposed” to her kids taking part in the sport.
“Blake’s taken Kingston and Zuma fishing with him many times — they love to camp out over night by the Kern River — but he’s never taken them hunting,” the source stated. “Blake would love to teach the boys how to hunt deer during the upcoming season in Oklahoma, but Gwen is totally opposed to it.”
The insider added that Shelton thinks hunting would toughen her kids up, as she’s “too soft” and “too protective.”
