Gwyneth Paltrow Coped With Quarantine By Doing 1 Thing Every Night
Like many people around the world, Gwyneth Paltrow experienced lockdown during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Paltrow has talked openly about how that went for her, and she recently something else about her quarantine experience. The Goop founder revealed one activity she did every night to cope with the pandemic.
Gwyneth Paltrow tested positive for COVID-19 last year
One standout part of Paltrow’s pandemic journey is her positive COVID-19 test. As she shared on the Goop website, she got infected with the virus early on in the pandemic.
“I had COVID-19 early on, and it left me with some long-tail fatigue and brain fog,” she wrote.
In April 2021, Paltrow shared with the Today show that she can still feel lingering side effects of COVID-19. She said, “”Sometimes they come back a little bit, but I think I’m better and better. It’s been pretty crazy, though. It’s been pretty wild. I’m not gonna lie.”

In addition to dealing with COVID-19, Paltrow also spent a significant amount of time under lockdown.
Paltrow recently shared on an episode of the Smartless podcast that she drank a lot to cope with quarantine. She said, “Basically during quarantine I was drinking seven nights a week and making pasta, eating bread. I went totally off the rails, like, who drinks multiple drinks seven nights a week? That’s not healthy.”
She also talked about her cocktail of choice.
“I love whiskey and I make this fantastic drink called the Buster Paltrow, which I named after my grandfather who loved whiskey sours,” Paltrow said. “And it’s this great quinoa whiskey from this distillery in Tennessee with maple syrup and lemon juice. It’s just heaven. I would have two of those every night of quarantine.”
Gwyneth Paltrow said quarantine had positives as well
Although quarantine can be challenging for many people, Paltrow has seen some positives come out of the experience. For example, she told Shape that the pandemic gave her a new perspective on life.
“I had not realized how much the normal pace of life was overburdening our bodies, our minds, and our nervous systems,” she said. “As we have been forced into the confines of our own homes, that has brought up a lot of emotional distress for some, and for others it has been very peaceful. In my case, I have experienced both.”
Additionally, quarantine has allowed her to spend more quality time with her family.
Paltrow shared, “I was constantly trying to pack in wellness moments, but I wasn’t really decompressing until the weekend or when I went on vacation. Now I feel different, letting my body go to sleep and wake up in its natural rhythm, having my kids around all the time, eating meals together and having meaningful conversations. We linger at the table; our dinners are an hour and a half long. My heart feels fuller, and my mind feels calmer in that respect.”
