Gypsy Rose Blanchard Welcomes Baby on Anniversary of Prison Release
It looks like the stars have aligned for Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her love, Ken Urker. The couple, who were first spotted together days after Blanchard ended her marriage to Ryan Anderson, have officially welcomed their first child together. Their daughter happened to be born on the anniversary of Blanchard’s release from prison, making the day extra special for the controversial convict and her new-ish beau.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard welcomes a baby girl on a special date
Gypsy Rose Blanchard and Ken Urker are officially the parents of a brand-new baby girl. The couple welcomed their first child on Dec. 28, 2024, the one-year anniversary of Blanchard’s release from prison. Urker shared the big news via Instagram but opted not to share additional details about the newborn on social media. The photo shared also obscures the newborn’s face. Later, the duo confirmed the baby’s Dec. 28 arrival to TMZ.
For several months, there were questions about who actually fathered Blanchard’s baby. While she was outspoken about knowing, for 100% certainty, that Urker was the father, followers were unconvinced. A paternity test proved that her then-husband, Ryan Anderson, did not father the baby, but things still could have been complicated if he and Blanchard had been legally wed at the time of the baby’s birth. The pair actually finalized their divorce just days before the birth, although they were originally expected to settle the case sometime in January.
Blanchard married Ryan Anderson in 2022 when she was still serving her prison term. The duo were pen pals before making things official. Before marrying Anderson, Blanchard was in a relationship with Urker, who also reached out to Blanchard following her conviction. The pair were also pen pals first before things became romantic. They later split but apparently remained in contact, regardless. They reconnected in March 2024.
How many years in prison did Gypsy Rose Blanchard serve?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has certainly made the most out of her first year of freedom. In the 12 months since her release from Chillicothe Correctional Center, she went on a media tour, enjoyed a few months of marriage, filed for divorce, reconnected with a former love, announced her pregnancy, moved, and became a mother. Do you know how long she spent behind bars, though?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison just over a year ago, on Dec. 28, 2023. The Louisiana resident was sentenced to 10 years behind bars in 2016 for her role in the murder of her mother, DeeDee Blanchard. The younger Blanchard served eight years of the 10-year sentence before her release and is regarded as a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.
Blanchard’s then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, was also charged in DeeDee Blanchard’s murder. Godejohn is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole for his actions. He is housed at a maximum security prison in Missouri.
