Gypsy Rose Blanchard is sharing her story of life after prison in a new docuseries

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup premieres June 3 on Lifetime. The eight-part series follows the 32-year-old Gypsy as she navigates the world beyond prison walls. After spending seven years behind bars for conspiring with her then-boyfriend to kill her abusive mother, she’s ready for a fresh start. But as Gypsy rebuilds her life as a free woman, she’ll also have to deal with the glare of the spotlight, complicated family relationships, and the lingering effects of her traumatic childhood.

The Lifetime show is just the latest look at Gypsy’s unusual story, which has also inspired an Emmy-winning miniseries and multiple documentaries. Here’s where to stream other shows and documentaries about Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup debuts just a few months after Lifetime’s six-hour special about Gypsy and her life in prison, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. In a candid interview conducted from behind bars, Gypsy opened up about her childhood and her life with her late mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Dee Dee allegedly had a mental illness known as Munchausen by proxy that caused her to force her daughter to undergo unnecessary medical procedures. The abused Gypsy felt killing Dee Dee was the only way to escape from her mother’s control.

Cable and streaming TV subscribers can watch The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard on-demand via Lifetime’s website or app. Episodes are also available for purchase on Prime Video and other streaming platforms.

‘Mommy Dead and Dearest’

The 2017 documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest explores Dee Dee’s murder and the circumstances that led to her death, including how she was able to convince so many medical professionals that her daughter was seriously ill with a laundry list of ailments. It draws on footage of Gypsy’s police interrogation, home movies, and interviews with family, friends, and Gypsy herself to tell the disturbing story.

Mommy Dead and Dearest is streaming on Max.

‘Gypsy’s Revenge’

In 2018, true-crime network Investigation Discovery offered its take on Dee Dee’s murder. Gypsy’s Revenge included interviews with Gypsy and Dee Dee’s neighbor, a doctor who treated Gypsy, and Gypsy’s former boyfriend, Nicolas Godejohn, who was convicted of murdering Dee Dee.

Gypsy’s Revenge is streaming on discovery+.

Gypsy’s story was dramatized in the 2019 Hulu limited series The Act. Patricia Arquette won an Emmy for her portrayal of Dee Dee. Joey King was nominated for her performance as Gypsy.

Gypsy has said she has mixed feelings about the high-profile series.

“I think Joey King did an amazing job playing me,” she recently told Us Weekly. “I was a little bit harder on Patricia Arquette playing my mom just because it’s my life. I am very hypercritical of it.”

The Act is streaming on Hulu.

Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
