Do Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh Want to Make ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2?
Hawkeye marks another chapter in the fan-beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe. In this series, Jeremy Renner takes up the torch, or bow, exploring Hawkeye’s past and everyday life as Clint Barton. And co-stars Hailee Steinfeld and Florence Pugh join him for an edge-of-your-seat experience that only Marvel tales can weave.
As soon as the first season ended, hints and rumors began to swirl about the potential for Hawkeye Season 2. But would Renner’s two young co-stars be up for another round of arrow-slinging, Easter egg-dropping fun?
‘Hawkeye’ characters fans adore
Set in New York City at Christmastime, Hawkeye centers on the namesake character, played by Renner. His superhero persona is Hawkeye. But in this installment, fans get to see more Clint Barton, his family, and how he copes with the last several years. He grieves the death of fellow Avenger (and friend) Natasha Romanoff. And he navigates hearing loss due to his proximity to a few blasts in his previous battles.
Joining Renner is Pugh, who reprises her role as Yelena Belova, Natasha’s sister. (The actor previously appeared in 2021’s Black Widow.) And Steinfeld makes her Marvel debut as a Hawkeye superfan, the talented archer and rich kid Kate Bishop.
The cast has to want in before Disney+ lays down the money for another installment. So, what have Pugh and Steinfeld said about potentially coming back for Hawkeye Season 2?
What Florence Pugh and Hailee Steinfeld say about ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2
In an interview with Total Film, Steinfeld hinted that Kate Bishop’s story is just “beginning in this show.” Adding to the suspense of a future Hawkeye Season 2, Steinfeld also posted on her Instagram, showing excitement for the season finale and gratitude for her fan appreciation. But she also said, “are you ready???” Was that just about the last episode or something more?
Pugh conveyed equal enthusiasm for her Hawkeye appearance. Pugh posted on Instagram about being “bloody excited” for the last episode to air. And she thanked all who continued to watch and enjoy the show, talking about the “soft, kind, totally normal and docile” group of people who shared the spotlight with her in this MCU installment. So it sounds like she might be game.
Renner weighed in, too, supportive of Steinfeld and the other actors. And he’s indicated he could keep playing Clint Barton. So, as it stands, the mood is right for Disney and Marvel to greenlight a second season. But will it?
Disney greenlit a second season of one Marvel show
Disney rolled out its MCU entries, like WandaVision, primarily as limited series. But that won’t be the case for all of them. Following Loki Season 1, the media giant confirmed a forthcoming second season.
Given the love of all the Disney+ Marvel series, and the open-ended nature of this particular show, Hawkeye Season 2 looks likely. After all, just because the company initially released Hawkeye as a limited series doesn’t mean there isn’t more to the story. With Pugh and Steinfeld as eager participants, and the fan demand there, Disney shouldn’t pass up the opportunity.
