When Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin tied the knot in September 2018 after just two months of dating, many people were baffled. Though the musician and the supermodel had dated previously — it had been a number of years since they’d last connected.

Additionally, Bieber had recently ended his on-again, off-again relationship with Selena Gomez for the umpteenth time. Because of all of this, and the “Yummy” singer’s track record for being a ladies’ man, many people were concerned that the young couple was making a grave error.

However, one year later, Bieber and Baldwin celebrated one year of marriage in a gorgeous formal ceremony at the Montage Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina. However, Baldwin revealed that she did have some reservations when Bieber first proposed.

Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s relationship moved really fast

From the outside looking in, it appears that Baldwin and Bieber were moving at a speed of light. Apparently, that’s truly how it felt to them as well.

“It all happened really fast and kind of all at once,” Baldwin explained in Bieber’s new YouTube docuseries, Seasons. “Him and I have known each other for so long that there was a part of it [getting married] that didn’t feel scary, but it was such a big life decision that it was so much emotion all at one time.”

Inside Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s marriage

It’s easy to look cute and in love on social media. However, the couple’s union seems like the real deal. The pair have leaned into their Christian faith and are committed to making their marriage work. In fact, they thought long and hard about their religious wedding ceremony before finally going through with it.

An insider told US Weekly, “It made their marriage feel more ‘real’ and ‘official’ to them. They kept the wedding small because Justin didn’t want any ‘fake friends’ there.”

Bieber recently shared that he has been reading, His Needs, Her Needs: Building An Affair-Proof Marriage written by Willard Hartley. The book is a  Christian-based self-help book that helps partners identify the ten essentials in a marriage. They include admiration, affection, an attractive spouse, conversation, domestic support, family commitment, financial support, honesty and openness, recreational companionship, and sexual fulfillment.

Hailey Baldwin was concerned that marrying Justin Bieber was a bad idea

When Bieber proposed so quickly, Baldwin tried to be really logical about the whole thing. She even asked her parents to stop her if they felt she was making a mistake. “He’s the first person I ever had real feelings for. When things went south for a little bit and we went our separate ways, I just knew that no matter what the outcome was going to be, I knew that he was going to be somebody I loved for the rest of my life,” she said in Seasons.

Baldwin knew she needed her parents blessing before she could move forward. She explained, “I said, ‘This is the time you need to stop me from doing something crazy if you think this is a bad idea.’ But in my heart, I knew this is what I wanted to do.”
