Hailey Bieber Discusses What It Was Like Meeting Beyoncé
Beyoncé is one of the biggest superstars alive. Maybe she’s one of the biggest superstars who ever lived. How many other musicians can say they remained successful for twenty straight years, all while cultivating an extremely loyal fan base? The number is small.
Beyoncé is enough of a celebrity that even other celebrities are starstruck when they meet her. Case in point: Hailey Bieber. Here’s what happened when the supermodel got to meet Beyoncé for the first time.
When Hailey Bieber met her idol
“Never meet your idols” is an old nugget of wisdom. Supposedly, our idols can never live to our preconceived notions of them. Bieber said this was not the case when she met Beyoncé.
Bieber told Harper’s Bazaar “I couldn’t even believe I was in there. I was so honored to be there. I met Beyoncé for the first time, and I was just like…she’s just so dope.” It takes a truly amazing idol to live up to the imagined versions of themself which some fans create in their heads.
Bieber has had a celebrity-filled life. Born into the Baldwin family, she later married Justin Bieber. One might think it would be a little harder for her to be starstruck than the average person. Bieber assures us this isn’t the case.
She added “It doesn’t matter how many rooms of people I’ve been in before, and who I’ve met, or who I know, these are still people that I’ve admired since I was a little kid. So the shock value of that and the admiration doesn’t ever go away, and I don’t think it ever will for me to be honest.”
How Paul McCartney took inspiration from Beyoncé
It’s truly a testament to Beyoncé’s charisma and talent that even someone as famous as Bieber was starstruck to meet her. Bieber is not the only major celebrity who felt that way. Even classic rock legend Paul McCartney looks up to Beyoncé.
Paul is an artist who’s done it all. He’s made music ranging from hard rock to ragtime to folk to pop. He’s been part of two majorly successful bands and found success as a solo artist. You’d think no other musician would have anything to teach him.
For someone to inspire Paul, they’d have to be truly great. Apparently, Beyonce impressed Paul enough he went to one of her concerts looking for inspiration. According to RTE, he said ”If I’m gonna do a tour I like to go and see what other people are doing. I don’t wanna bring my tour out and be amazingly old-fashioned.” He added the acclaim Beyoncé’s concerts received made him decide to see her perform live so he could learn a thing or two.
Beyoncé isn’t just a celebrity. She’s a celebrity’s celebrity. Even to other luminaries, she’s Queen B. That’s an incredible achievement.
