Fairly recently, the actor has expressed gratitude for being referenced in hip-hop records. As it is a longtime tradition in the rap community, Berry has been the subject of many lyrics on wax for years. The X-Men star shared that she was flattered by the constant namedrops, so much so she’s begun to see them as family.

“I think of these references like my children in a way. There’s no way I could pick one,” she once said in an interview with Hot Ones.” “I love all these artists. I’m always flattered when any one of them includes me and that they still remember me and know who I am. So to pick one would be like picking my daughter over my son. I love them all.”

Halle Berry once revealed she had a real problem being used in certain rap songs

Although Berry might not mind being mentioned in hip-hop records now, that wasn’t always the case. In a resurfaced interview with Playboy, the Monster’s Ball actor revealed there were some records she wanted no association with. If only because she felt they were more demeaning than flattering.

“I have a real problem with all those songs that refer to women as b****** or in other derogatory terms. I don’t listen to them, nor do I buy them, nor do I encourage others to,” Berry said.

She went on to explain that she didn’t want her name attached to the more misogynistic rap songs.

“People I know say, ‘Well, I don’t listen to the words, I like the beat.’ They don’t realize that subconsciously they’re hearing the words. It’s degrading. As women, we’re fighting so hard to be viewed in another way. I don’t like my name associated with it. I know they think they’re giving me a compliment, but I don’t see it that way,” she said.
