Hallmark Star Lacey Chabert’s Recipe for Chocolate-Covered Marshmallow Cake Will Make Your Mouth Water
If you’re in the mood for a sweet treat, actor Lacey Chabert has just the ticket. The Hallmark Channel star’s recipe for chocolate-covered marshmallow cake is guaranteed to make your mouth water. Even better, the cake — which Chabert says is her daughter’s favorite — is super-easy to prepare.

Chabert shared the recipe for the cake during a 2019 appearance on Hallmark’s Home & Family. The Mean Girls actor was appearing in a new Hallmark movie, Love, Romance and Chocolate, which inspired her to share the dessert with the show’s viewers.
The “Queen of Hallmark” explained that her daughter Julia –who she shared with husband David Nedhar — was a particular fan of the cake.
“She loves marshmallows, and she loves cake,” Chabert said. “Obviously, who doesn’t? So this is the perfect cake for her.”
The ‘Sweet Carolina’ star’s cake is easy to make
Chabert, who co-stars with Tyler Hynes in her newest Hallmark movie, Sweet Carolina, airing May 15, says the cake is also easy to make.
“It’s actually not that many steps,” she told Home & Family co-host Debbie Matenopoulos.
Most of the cake’s ingredients consist of staples you likely have in your pantry and fridge, including butter, eggs, flour, cocoa powder, and sugar. You’ll also need pecans and, of course, marshmallows, as well as powdered sugar and evaporated milk for the icing.
Chabert recommends using pure, not imitation, vanilla extract to make the cake. “It’s a little bit more expensive, but you can taste the vanilla,” she said. She also noted that it’s fine to leave out the pecans if you have allergies.

According to Chabert, there is one key step you can’t skip if you want to make a perfect chocolate-marshmallow cake.
“Here’s the trick. You have got to pour the marshmallows on the cake while it’s still hot,” she said. “Because you want them to kind of melt into the cake a little bit and not stay whole.”
Then, as the marshmallows melt, prepare the icing, which Chabert compared to a fudge. Pour it over the cake, and serve.
