Halsey Says Half of BTS Clowned Her and ARMY Knows Exactly Who She’s Talking About
After collaborating on the hit single, “Boy With Luv,” singer-songwriter Halsey is no stranger to discussing BTS. In the past, the “Without Me” crooner opened up about working with the K-pop group and gushed over the BTS family as a whole. And now, Halsey admits she still isn’t over how half of BTS clowned her while dancing to “Boy With Luv.” But, which of the seven members — including RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook — made fun of their friend? ARMY investigated and looks like they found the culprits.
Halsey opens up about BTS on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’
On Oct. 30, Halsey appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and the host praised the 25-year-old for breaking three Guinness World Records for the “Boy With Luv” music video. For reference, the video — which received 74.6 million views in a day — broke the record for “most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours,” “most viewed YouTube music in 24 hours,” and “most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group.”
And when DeGeneres brought up the big achievement, Halsey simply replied, “Yes, with BTS.”
The television personality then asked the singer about working with the group. “They are super awesome,” Halsey said. “And they really made me feel at home, like a family.”
However, the music artist had one complaint. “The thing is, I’m not really a hip hop dancer,” she explained. “I do more movements that look intentional, but anyone can kind of do. So I had to learn all this crazy choreography before I went to Korea to shoot the video.”
Halsey also made it clear she still remembers how half of BTS made fun of her while practicing for the song. “It was super fun! But, half of them were really nice to me about it. Yeah, and the other ones were like…” she trailed off, laughing at herself as she attempted the iconic hitchhiking move.
The singer continued: “And I was like, ‘Yeah, I know that’s what I look like, thank you! Sorry, we can’t all be perfect!'”
DeGeneres segued the conversation back to the Guinness record. The host noted, “Well, you still helped them beat the record by being part of it.”
But, as always, Halsey remained humble. “I take a small part of it,” she said.
BTS fans guess Jimin, J-Hope, and Jungkook clowned Halsey during ‘Boy With Luv’
Now, this isn’t the first time Halsey mentioned her hilarious “Boy With Luv” interaction with BTS. When speaking with Heatworld in June, Halsey called out the dance line for making fun of her while preparing for the music video.
“They have absolutely no shame about making fun of me for it,” she said at the time. “Every time we do it, it’s always J-Hope, Jungkook, and I mean, Jimin doesn’t really make fun of me so much anymore. But, they’re always the two in the corner.”
Meanwhile, Jimin and J-Hope continued to poke fun at their friend during BTS’ Love Yourself: Speak Yourself MetLife Stadium concert in New Jersey. Both members continuously shouted “I want it” to the crowd, which is one of the lines sung by Halsey in the “Boy With Luv.”
So naturally, when Halsey brought up “half of BTS” on The Ellen Show, ARMY knew exactly who she was referring to.
“I can hear Hoseok and Jimin saying ‘I want it‘ in my head when she says ‘half of them,'” a Reddit user shared.
“Half of them were really nice and I know who the other half it’s always jhope and jungkook,” another fan wrote on Twitter.
The singer-songwriter’s recent interview also reminded fans of the ongoing friendship between BTS and Halsey.
“Halsey: ‘and half of them were really nice to me about it.’ Jimin, Jungkook and Hoseok left the chat,” a fan tweeted “I LOVE THEIR FRIENDSHIP!!!”
“Already know she’s talking about Hobi and Jimin clowning her hahaha,” a Redditor wrote. “I love that they can joke around with each other.”
ARMY loves how Halsey respects BTS in the media
Although most fans were excited to hear Halsey reminisce over her memories with BTS, others expressed their frustrations with DeGeneres and her statements about the Guinness record.
“I’m not too keen on how Ellen asked Halsey about breaking the youtube record,” a fan explained on Reddit. “She made it seem like without Halsey the music video wouldn’t do as well, which we all know isn’t true. And how could she leave BTS out of the question, she knows d*mn well that it’s bts ft halsey, not the other way around.”
However, many members of ARMY noted it was also likely there was no intention of shade. “I don’t think Ellen was trying to shade BTS. I think she was hyping Halsey as her guest,” a fan illustrated on Twitter. “She was one of the first talk show hosts to support the boys here in the US, and has always spoken highly of them. And thanks to Halsey for her kind correction.”
But overall, the majority is happy Halsey gave proper credit to BTS for their “Boy With Luv” milestone. “I love how she makes sure to mention BTS and give them the credit they deserve,” a fan tweeted.
No matter how you look at it, the friendship between Halsey and BTS is heartwarming. The music artists always have something positive to say about one another, despite releasing the collaboration back in April. But, it appears ARMY can look forward to an inevitable reunion, as both artists are performing at the Jingle Ball on Dec. 6. So buckle up, because is one you won’t want to miss.
