Halsey Once Got Taylor Swift a Potentially ‘Inconvenient’ Birthday Gift
As a celebrity, Halsey isn’t lacking in famous friends. In fact, she recently announced that she would be joining forces with her good friend, Sydney Sweeney, to make her acting debut in The Players Table. But the “Graveyard” singer has friends in other sectors of the entertainment industry also. As a singer and songwriter, she has developed relationships with others in the music industry as well. And perhaps one of Halsey’s most famous buddies is none other than Taylor Swift.
Swift and Halsey have supported each other publicly for a number of years now. They have both named the other a talented songwriter and they both are fans of the other’s music. Halsey even supported the folklore artist in her public feud with Scooter Braun and Big Machine Records after Swift alleged that her masters were sold to Braun without her knowledge. In an interview with SiriusXM, the “Without Me” singer got candid about why she felt it was so important to publicly throw her support behind Swift.

“Taylor doesn’t need any protecting by any means but, you know, I wanted to make sure she knew, and the rest of the world knew, that what was happening just isn’t right,” Halsey shared. “And I’m not gonna sit and let that happen. I relate to her as a woman, I relate to her as a writer, as an artist, and it was really important for me to speak up. Because I would have hoped that someone would have done it for me too, you know what I mean? So yeah, that was kind of a no-brainer.”
But the talented songwriters don’t just have a professional relationship, they also have a personal one as well. They give each other advice, perform together, and even hang out on occasion. In fact, Halsey gave Swift an epic surprise for her 30th birthday. The singers were both performing at Jingle Ball, which happened to fall on Swift’s birthday, and Halsey decided to get festive and fill Swift’s dressing room to the brim with balloons. Clearly, it was a sweet gesture, but Halsey wondered if the balloons would wind up being inconvenient for Swift.

“Obviously, it’s Taylor’s birthday right, so I filled her a dressing room with balloons,” Halsey revealed in an interview with Z100. “The whole ceiling of — the whole room was full [of] balloons. And I had this moment you know where I was like ‘She’s either gonna love this or I’ve just made her day so inconvenient.’ I really wasn’t sure to be honest with you. And I brought her a birthday gift and said happy birthday and everything like that.”

Fortunately, Swift seemed to appreciate the grand gesture. In fact, she shared the surprise with her millions of fans via her Instagram story. “These are from Halsey!” Swift exclaimed, showing off the balloons in a video. “Ashley! This is amazing! Look at all these balloons!” Halsey also revealed that another birthday gift she gave Swift was making sure the “cardigan” singer opened Jingle Ball, rather than closing it, so that Swift could have an epic birthday party with her friends. We’re sure that particular swap made up for any minor inconvenience that the balloons may have caused.
