Hermione Granger is a fan favorite and there are many reasons for this, one of which is that Harry and Ron wouldn’t have gotten far without her. Not only is she intelligent, she’s also brave and determined. Is this what makes her stand out?

What do fans love about Hermione?

As is mentioned before, she is intelligent, brave, and determined. She is also a very loyal friend to Harry and Ron. Their friendship starts, for those of you who don’t remember, because she lies to Professor McGonagall about the troll in the girl’s bathroom. She tells the teacher that she went looking for the troll and Harry and Ron came to save her.

Though only the last part is true, her excuse works and Harry and Ron don’t get in trouble. This early action shows how much Hermione values loyalty and cements her friendships with Harry and Ron. When Harry and Ron are fighting during Goblet of Fire, Hermione manages to stay friends with both of them, again showing what a loyal friend she is. She also doesn’t leave Harry during the hunt for Horcruxes in Deathly Hallows, even when Ron does.

Why is Hermione so important?

Harry and Ron wouldn’t have made it far without Hermione. She’s the brightest witch of her age, and fans aren’t just saying that. Hermione is genuinely smart and regularly helps Harry and Ron with their homework and with their lives.

Hermione also becomes a good strategist throughout the series. Though in Sorcerer’s Stone she freaks out when presented with the Devil’s Snare and is no good in a chess game, by Deathly Hallows she is several steps ahead of everyone. Hermione is also the true mastermind behind Dumbledore’s Army in Order of the Phoenix, as she convinces Harry to start the group.

Hermione is not only important to Harry and Ron because of her intelligence, but she is important to fans as well. She shows us that being smart is cool. Hermione proves that you can get somewhere by being “outspoken and stubborn.” She also inspires fans with “her work ethic [and] her sheer willingness to do what she [believes is] right.”

For all of the reasons listed above and more, Hermione is a great and important character. Yet one thing that hasn’t been mentioned so far is her kindness and compassion. Hermione is a very selfless person, as she proves throughout the series. The time when she most shows her selfless nature is when she alters her parents’ memories in Deathly Hallows.

She later finds her parents and brings their memories back, but she had no idea she would even survive the ordeal. It must have taken a lot of strength and a lot of love for her parents to get Hermione to do that. Hermione is also very kind to Kreacher, even though he dislikes her. This kindness leads to Kreacher helping the Trio out a lot, even cooking for them and helping Dobby kidnap Mundungus Fletcher.

Hermione Granger, overall, is a wonderful character. She makes the Harry Potter world shine and it would be a lot poorer without her.
