Harry Styles Once Said the Sweetest Thing About Potentially Running Into Taylor Swift
Harry Styles and Taylor Swift are some of the two biggest names in music — and they’ll both be at the 2021 Grammy Awards this Sunday. The duo, who were linked together back in 2012, have had nothing but kind things to say about each other for years. A public run-in between the two singers is sure to happen eventually, and Styles spoke about what he would think about an encounter between him and Swift.

Styles and Swift are both up for awards on March 14. It’s Styles’ first time receiving nominations, despite being in music for more than a decade. The former One Direction band-member is up for three categories: Best Pop Solo Performance (“Watermelon Sugar”); Best Pop Vocal Album (Fine Line); and Best Music Video (“Adore You”).
This isn’t the “All Too Well” singer’s first rodeo, though. Swift has earned 41 Grammy nominations throughout her career, and 10 wins. She’s up for six categories at the 2021 ceremony, including Album of the Year for Folklore.
Styles and Swift are competing against each other in the Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album categories. Swift is recognized in those tiers for “Cardigan” and Folklore, respectively.
The popular duo might run into each other at the show on March 14
Swift and Styles are performing at the show, as well. So it’s possible they could run into each other at the event.
“Artists will be coming together, while still safely apart, to play music for each other as a community and celebrate the music that unites us all,” Variety shared an event statement from the Grammys.
The Grammys will be “‘in and around’ the Los Angeles Convention Center,” the site added. The executive producer of the show Ben Winston (who’s also Styles’ friend) said that the event will include pre-recorded performances too.
Either way, a Swift and Styles run-in is possible. And Styles has actually spoken about a potential encounter with the other famous singer before.
Here’s what Harry Styles had to say about running into Taylor Swift
Styles addressed how he would feel and act if he were to run into Swift in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone. First, he explained how both he and Swift are songwriters, and often pen real experiences into their songs.
“Certain things don’t work out,” he said. “There’s a lot of things that can be right, and it’s still wrong. In writing songs about stuff like that, I like tipping a hat to the time together. You’re celebrating the fact it was powerful and made you feel something, rather than ‘this didn’t work out, and that’s bad.'”
He then shared how he would feel about running into Swift.
“If you run into that person, maybe it’s awkward, maybe you have to get drunk… but you shared something,” he expressed. “Meeting someone new, sharing those experiences, it’s the best sh*t ever. So thank you.”
