Hewitt started acting quite early

Hewitt was born on February 21, 1979, to Patricia Mae and Herbert Daniel Hewitt. Growing up, Hewitt was drawn to music resulting in an encounter with the entertainment industry. When she was three, Hewitt sang ‘The Greatest Love Of All’ at a livestock show, and by the time she was five, she had already begun tap dancing and ballet. After winning a children’s show, a talent scout convinced Hewitt and her mother to relocate to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood better.

Shortly after, the star landed her role on Party of Five. The show kept Hewitt occupied for five years, during which she also got various movie titles. In 1992, Hewitt landed her first film with Munchie. A year later, she starred in Little Miss Millions and Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit. Both of these films earned Hewitt some recognition. Her big break came when she starred in the horror movie I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Hewitt reprised her role in the film’s sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Her part in the two films served to keep Hewitt’s stardom sailing. In 2001 she starred in Heartbreakers, and in the mid-2000s, she landed the lead role to play Melinda Gordon in Ghost Whisperer. Hewitt has also starred in Criminal Minds, and as of 2018, she appears in the police procedural drama 9-1-1.

‘Heartbreakers’ stamped Hewitt’s name in Hollywood

Hewitt landed a role in Heartbreakers after gaining notoriety for films like Can’t Hardly Wait. On Heartbreakers, she starred alongside Sigourney Weaver to bring the mother-daughter duo to life who take their con act to Florida after losing all of their money. The mother-daughter team (Max and Page) set up an elaborate scheme to con and defraud wealthy men out of their money. Max meets a rich man and seduces him to fall in love with her.

After the two get married, Page seduces him, and the con artists run away with their divorce settlement. Page wants to break off and start her venture, but her mother convinces her to set up one last con together. However, everything they had planned to do starts going wrong. For instance, Page starts to fall in love with a bar owner named Jack, who she’d planned to scheme on the side. Heartbreakers opened at No. 1 at the box office on its opening weekend.

Heartbreakers marked its 20th anniversary earlier this year, and Hewitt dished on some juicy details about the film. Speaking to Vulture, Hewitt revealed that she brought her grandmother and mother to watch her film one raunchy scene. Hewitt said, “I don’t really know why I did that, except that they were the two biggest female influences in my life.”

The actor said that she wanted them to feel comfortable with her doing nude scenes and assured herself that if her mother and grandmother were fine with it, she would have no issues doing the rest of the movie. Hewitt recalled a scene where she and Ray Liotta’s characters were making out, and then his pants zipper caught her hair, thus making for an awkward scene. Hewitt’s grandmother thoroughly enjoyed the scene and found it hilarious.
