Helen Mirren Says She Has ‘Swagger,’ Vin Diesel Says He’ll ‘Love Her Forever’
Helen Mirren recently talked about being called beautiful and suggested that it all comes down to swagger. But confidence is only one facet of the English actor’s personality. She’s developed great friendships with many of her co-stars, including Vin Diesel, who admitted that he’ll love Mirren “forever.”

Mirren is an Academy Award-winning actor who’s appeared in several acclaimed films, including The Queen and The Last Station. But in 2017, she traded drama for action and joined the cast of the Fast and Furious franchise film, Hobbs & Shaw as Queenie. The actor then reprised the role opposite Diesel in 2021’s F9.
Mirren didn’t land the Fast and Furious role by chance. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that she met Diesel at an event and pleaded with him to put her in the films.
“I didn’t ask, I begged!” Mirren said. “And I was shameless: ‘Oh God, I’d just love to be in one of your movies! Please let me be in it.’ And then Vin, with that beautiful, deep voice of his, said: ‘I’ll see what I can do.'”
Diesel kept his promise. And he offered Mirren the role of his character Dom’s old enemies’ mother.
“He found this great little role for me, which was perfect,” Mirren explained. ” “I’d just never done anything like that before — one of those big, big movies. And, in my vanity, I just loved driving and really wanted to do my own driving in a fast car.”

Mirren was recently featured on the cover of People magazine’s “Beautiful Issue.” The Shazam! Fury of the Gods star told The Hollywood Reporter that she was shocked by the honor. But she suggested that she’d like to switch the term “beauty” out for “swagger.”
“I love the word swagger because I think swagger means I’m confident in myself, I’m presenting myself to the world, I’m enjoying the world around me,” Mirren said. “I think what is called the beauty industry should be called the swagger industry. We’re giving people swagger.”
But the award-winning actor admitted that there are moments when she gets stressed about work. “I get very nervous about the day-to-day process,” Mirren revealed. “And meeting and dealing with new people. And not knowing whether I am going to remember my lines or not. I just get very frightened until I get into the swing of things and then I kind of relax.”
Vin Diesel will ‘love’ Helen Mirren ‘forever’
Mirren may prefer to use the word “swagger.” But Diesel thinks “beautiful” is also a great way to describe her.
“She has a charisma that is timeless,” Diesel told The Hollywood Reporter when talking about his F9 co-star. “She has looks to kill and always has. She has a jovial spirit.”
“But I think the thing that is most attractive about Dame Helen Mirren is the way she makes you feel, ” he added. “She always makes you feel appreciated and loved. And for that, I Iove her forever.”
