Henry Cavill: Zack Snyder ‘Justice League’ Cut Should Be Finished ‘Whether You Agree With It or Not’
After two years of demanding to “release the Snyder Cut,” Justice League fans are finally going to get even more than they dreamed of. Zack Snyder is reassembling his original cut of Justice League for HBO Max, but it will be a four-hour long, four part miniseries. Fans hope it improves upon the theatrical cut and some critics may be waiting to say they told us so, but Henry Cavill doesn’t care.
Cavill was a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with Josh Horowitz during which he discussed his new movie, Enola Holmes, and his love of The Lord of the Rings. When it came to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Cavill made his unequivocal support known, regardless of any haters out there.
Henry Cavill wants to see ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ too
When Snyder had a family tragedy, he was unable to complete Justice League. Cavill returned for reshoots under Joss Whedon, but they required a very awkward removal of his Mission: Impossible – Fallout mustache. Even Cavill is curious what Zack Snyder’s Justice League would look like.
“I’m just really excited to see his vision realized,” Snyder said. “He got to be the train. I think it’s only fair that train gets to reach its station which he was aiming for. I think it’s important that that vision is realized.”
Henry Cavill: ‘It doesn’t matter’ If you don’t like ‘Justice League’
Cavill knows that for all the support of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, there is resistance too. For the Superman actor, it’s all about seeing the film through.
“Whether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t matter,” Cavill said. “It’s a storyteller’s, it’s a filmmaker’s right to have that vision realized. I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to see what that vision was and how it looks.”
‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ has another advantage over the theatrical cut
Justice League did not exceed the DC Comics heroes’ solo movies, and received largely negative reviews. Snyder’s cut may have fared no better in 2017, but now he can see what didn’t work and course correct.
“Especially, he’s got the advantage of hindsight now,” Cavill said. “It’s going to be even better. I just want to see a good movie.”
‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ will have new Superman
Snyder may have some Cavill outtakes viewers have never seen. Cavill says he’s not returning for reshoots, but he also suggested Snyder could use a CGI Superman for new scenes too. The opening of Justice League already employs CGI characters
“Let’s talk about the opening of the movie with the invasion of Earth and some of the Gods defending Earth, etc.,” Cavill said. “Yeah, okay, that’s all CGI apart from a few characters. There’s stuff there which you can build in post. You can spend $600 million making CGI stuff. Yes, I would definitely say there’s a four and a half hour movie there. It’s in the can plus the stuff which they’re going to craft in post now.”
