Here Are Our Favorite ‘Princess and the Frog’ Moments to Celebrate the Splash Mountain Retheme
Prompted by a petition from Disney fans and the growing Black Lives Matter movement, Disney announced it would retheme its Splash Mountain ride in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Now, this rollercoaster will feature the story of Tiana, Ray, Prince Naveen, and the rest of their friends from the bayou.
Until the unveiling of this retheme, here are a few of our favorite moments from the original Princess and the Frog movie.
Miss Charlotte going ‘back into the fray’
Friends since they were little, Charlotte aka Lottie, is still super supportive of Tiana and her dreams. She buys a handful of Tiana’s beignets for her party. When Tiana falls and is covered in food, Charlotte stops dancing with “Prince Naveen” to give Tiana a new dress.
It’s then that she tells Tiana that she thought wishin’ on stars was just for babies and crazy people. Miss Charlotte may be spoiled and very into princes, but that’s what makes her so loveable.
Shadow Man singing ‘Friends on the Other Side’
OK, so he’s not exactly a good person. In fact, Shadow Man always has a way of working a twist into his voodoo. If you want more hair, you might end up with hair all over your body. If you want more “green,” he’ll turn you into a frog to get more money and power.
That doesn’t mean that the Shadow Man doesn’t have a few iconic songs throughout this animated movie. “Friends on the Other Side” kickstarts Naveen’s journey as a “slimy little frog,” even though, technically, it’s not slime. It’s mucus.
Lewis getting to play with the big boys
When Prince Naveen finds out this alligator loves jazz and to play trumpet he asks him why Lewis never tried to play with humans before. Oh, Lewis explains, he’s tried. Unfortunately, it didn’t end well.
Viewers see that Lewis jumped onto a boat with his trumpet but people ran him out with their guns. Don’t worry, though, once Tiana gets her restaurant, Lewis lives his dreams as a real trumpet player, jamming with the “big boys.”
The kiss that turned Prince Naveen and Tiana human
Even though they went through a lot of trouble to turn human, they decide that staying together is worth extra warts. However, once Mama Odie weds Tiana and Prince Naveen, they transform back into their human form.
Just like she said, kissing a princesses turns them back. Once Tiana became his wife, she became a princess. (Everyone gets to live their dream after all!) Presumably, more information regarding the Splash Mountain retheme will be announced in the coming weeks.
