Here’s Why Fans Believe ‘Basketball Wives’ Star OG Is Trying To Upset Evelyn Lozada
Basketball Wives season 8 was an explosive one, with tensions rising between co-stars Evelyn Lozada and OG that divided the cast entirely. The season ended with star and executive producer, Shaunie O’Neal, having to address accusations of colorism after fans accused the lighter-skinned castmates of treating darker-skinned cast members differently.
The drama has continued off-screen as the cast prepares for season 9. With an upcoming event OG is promoting to her social media account, fans are convinced she is still holding a grudge against Lozada.
Why ‘Basketball Wives’ stars OG and Evelyn Lozada are feuding
OG and Lozada got off to the wrong start almost immediately. While OG attempted to try and get to know Lozada, Lozada was disinterested. She claimed she was not a fan of OG’s because of her “aggressive” personality and for interjecting herself into other co-star’s arguments. Lozada also made fun of OG’s fashion choices.
As the seasons progressed, Basketball Wives viewers began to call Lozada out for what they believed to be colorism and bullying. After arguing with OG throughout all of season 8, Lozada and some of the other cast members refused to film with her on the same stage at the reunion special. Ahead of the reunion, reports surfaced that OG was forced to film her interview in a private room…alone.
Lozada, other stars of the show, and Basketball Wives producers were immediately accused of hypocrisy and isolating OG for the so-called “aggressive” behavior. They noted that OG had never been physical with anyone, unlike Lozada. Fans believe the “aggressive” label was colorist due to OG being of Nigerian descent. Their feelings were further pushed after Lozada posted a note to her Instagram account about OG, accompanied by a monkey emoji, which is an animal normally used in racial situations against African-Americans.
Viewers also did not forget when Lozada referred to Guiterrez as “Li Li,” a slur normally directed towards people of Asian descent. Guiterrez is a Phillioino woman. Lozada later apologize to Guiterrez, as well as denied that she was colorist and claimed she was Afro-Latina as a defense.
But the climax of OG and Lozada’s feud stemmed from OG claiming that Lozada’s ex-husband, Chad Ochocino, tried to date her.

When OG caught wind that Lozada was making fun of her looks and appearance, she was appalled. Lozada insinuated several times throughout season 8 that she didn’t find OG attractive. At one point, Lozada called OG ugly to her face, to which OG responded, “Ochocinco wanted me,” and claimed that Ochocinco had been flirty with her for several years.
Lozada went out of her way to contact her ex in an attempt to discredit OG. Naturally, Ochocinco denied there was ever much interaction between him and OG and said that it was actually OG who pursued him. He provided Lozada with screenshots of their alleged conversations. Lozada presented them to OG, but OG claimed that they were edited and showed Lozada the full conversations straight from her phone.
The two bickered until OG declared that Lozada was a racist during their argument. Lozada would later sue OG for defamation of character and loss of income due to her claims against her. She also filed a restraining order, which was subsequently denied. The lawsuit is still pending.
Both women have done countless interviews since the show aired and from OG’s latest Instagram post, her claims about Ochocinco may have been true. The two are hosting an upcoming event together.
“OCHOCiNCO WANTED ME,” she joked in her post. “TO GUEST HOST THE HOTTEST CELEBRiTY SUPER SLAM CHARiTY EVENT.”
