Here’s Why Tyrese Got Banned From ‘The Wendy Williams Show’
Wendy Williams has involved herself in several celebrity feuds since the beginning of The Wendy Williams Show. The daytime television series has been Williams’ platform for dishing on celebrities since 2008. However, William shared in 2019 why her audience stopped seeing Tyrese as a guest.
‘The Wendy Williams Show’ used to be executive produced by Wendy’s ex-husband, Kevin Hunter
When The Wendy Williams Show premiered nationally in July 2008, many of Williams’ fans knew her from her radio days. Williams already established a name for herself in the New York radio market when she met her second husband, Kevin Hunter, in 1994. After dating for three years, Williams and Hunter married in 1997. The couple then had a son, Kevin Jr., in 1999.
Once Williams got the call from Debmar-Mercury to host her talk show, she made Hunter an executive producer. The pair acted as a team until they faced marital woes. In March 2019, photos surfaced of Hunter with his mistress, Sharina Hudson. Additionally, Hunter admitted to having fathered a child outside of his marriage to Williams.
The news of Hunter’s infidelity caused Williams to live in a sober house for several months. During that time, Williams filed for divorce from Hunter after 21 years of marriage. Williams also fired Hunter as an executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show.
“Kevin Hunter is no longer an executive producer on The Wendy Williams Show,” a spokesperson for the host wrote, per Variety. “Debmar-Mercury wishes him well in his future endeavors.”
Tyrese reportedly got banned from ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ because of Kevin Hunter’s jealousy, according to Wendy
After she decided to divorce Hunter, Williams gushed about her life as a newly single woman on The Wendy Williams Show. According to Page Six, Williams spoke about an encounter with Tyrese during her “Beauty Finds” segment. Williams said Tyrese informed her why he spent several years away from her show. Tyrese reportedly claimed Hunter banned him from appearing as a guest after his last interview with Williams. Hunter allegedly thought Williams flirted with Tyrese too much throughout the interaction.
“He hasn’t been here in three or four years, right,” Williams said of Tyrese. “I’m like, ‘Where have you been?’ He goes, ‘Your husband banned me because he thought I was flirting with you.’ ”Are you serious, Kevin? Are you serious? Who are you flirting with?!”
In addition to claiming her ex blocked Tyrese, Williams referenced his cheating scandal with Hudson. Williams created a mock baby belly with her hands to make fun of him and his second child’s mother.
Tyrese appeared on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ after Wendy left Kevin Hunter
After she informed her audience why Tyrese was missing from The Wendy Williams Show, Williams told her staff that there were “new rules’ in place. Williams bumped up to the show’s principal executive producer, which made her in charge of guests. In October 2019, Williams welcomed Tyrese back to the show to promote his film, Black and Blue. Her audience cheered him as he came on-stage, and Williams embraced him with a hug. Both Tyrese and Williams said they love each other, and Willams apologized for their rocky past.
Although Tyrese and Williams patched things up, Williams moved forward with her divorce from Hunter. Williams and Hunter finalized their divorce in January 2020.
