‘He’s All That’: Fans’ Reactions to Kourtney Kardashian’s Cameo Are Brutal
Fans are raving about the new Netflix film He’s All That, and for a good reason. It’s a great nod to the original that premiered 22 years ago. Quality isn’t what has fans talking about it, though. It’s Kourtney Kardashian’s surprise cameo — BFF to leading lady Addison Rae.
It seems more than a decade on reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians hasn’t done enough to sharpen her acting skills (maybe it isn’t all acting?), and viewers were quick to notice. What’s more, they were also quick to point it out. Surprisingly, this isn’t her first rodeo in acting, either.
Kourtney Kardashian’s cameo in ‘He’s All That’
As you likely already know, He’s All That is centered around social media influencer Padgett Sawyer (Rae). She seems to have it all, including tons of followers, popularity, and a ‘pop star’ boyfriend by the name of Jordan Van Draanen. Everything becomes uncertain, however, when her messy breakup with Jordan is captured on TikTok Live.
This leads to Padgett’s relationship with Kardashian’s character, Jessica Miles Torres — a brand manager sponsoring on social media. Following her video that went “viral in the wrong way,” Torres made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with her.
Following the Padgett/Cameron duet that had thousands of views, however, Jessica considers it again. This becomes especially clear when Padgett makes her promise to “make him more popular than Jordan Van Draanen.” It’s safe to say social media numbers are all that’s holding this relationship together.
According to PopBuzz, “The role was inspired by Addison and Kourtney’s real-life friendship.” A friendship that many fans have been questioning since the beginning considering Rae is more than half the age of the eldest Kardashian sister.
Fans were not here for it: ‘NOT it sis’
When the end of August came, and viewers could finally kick back and watch He’s All That on Netflix, there wasn’t a keyboard in the world that didn’t voice how everyone was feeling about it on Twitter. These feelings were amplified with the Kardashian cameo.
First and foremost, many were upset about the last name of Kardashian’s character. “Oh no, not Kourtney Kardashian playing a Latina,” Fidel Martinez wrote on Twitter. Many fans were quick to follow with their frustration. One respondent made a great point, though. “I think it was implied that was her ex-husband’s last name. Still kinda weird though.”
That wasn’t the only problem. It seems her acting wasn’t up to par, either. Other viewers have followed up with comments of her acting being “cringey” and “not feeling genuine.”
This isn’t the Kardashian sister’s first acting role
Although it is her first movie appearance, the Kardashian’s debut in the industry was not in He’s All That. In fact, she has had other acting credits before starring alongside BFF Rae.
According to IMDb, Kardashian has been in two other credits. First, she played Kassandra Kavanaugh in 2011’s One Life to Live for one episode. Nine years later, she made an appearance in the TV series Dave as herself for an episode.
According to recent reviews, we shouldn’t bank on seeing Kourtney Kardashian as a lead in any big hits any time soon, but it does look like her BFF Addison Rae is showing some potential. Despite a few negative responses, Rae has been well-received for the most part.
